How easy is an install?

I was going to get some gauges just to see what's going on, but I don't like the idea of spending $800 of some defi's or having my dash start to look like a jumbo jet, I've always liked digital gauges and I've read nothing but good things about the Zeitronix ZT2.

What's the install like of the full setup?

Controller, LCD, EGT and boost?

Is there anyway to also monitor oil pressure with it, I read somewhere on here that you can add 1 options user defined input and that could be oil pressure.

Or is it one of those things that if I'm asking I should really pay for a shop to do it.

Final question, I was planning on hooking it up to a palm pilot for logging, can you transfer the logs off that easy to a computer, I have a spare old tiny sony viao but I'd rather have something small I can throw in the glove box for logging, or does the actual controller box thing do the logging?

Thanks in advance.

Zeitronix + LCD is a matter of tapping 5 wires.

12v, gnd, TPS, RPM, Sensor Gnd. Fairly simple.

Adding Boost MAP sensor you connect the sensor to 3 wires on the Zeitronix and run a vac line to the sensor just like a boost gauge. Simple.

EGT- you run the line through the front fender behind the headlight and to the back of the valve cover, under the mitsubishi plug cover and through to the other side. Drill 11/64 (I think) hole in runner #1 or 2 of the manifold and then tap 1.8" NPT threads for the EGT sensor. Screw in sensor and your're done.

So no welding of bungs or the like?

In terms of "tapping wires" is this tapping wires straight on the ECU? Being excessively paranoid, should I get a "piggie back harness" so I don't have to hack into my cars own harness?

Thanks for the pointers TTP, when I buy I'm buying from you as you've always been the most helpful with this topic.

So no need for a new wide band O2? Does the stock one for the ECU do enough?

Wideband O2 IS A NEW SENSOR that measures your AFR. So you will have 3 O2 sensors instead of 2.

Boomslang ECU extension harness is not necessary if you use these 3M removable taps.

OK so sorry for the stupid questions, but I would need to have the new wideband o2 sensor added, and that's a bung weld job, yes?

So it's wideband o2,
tap 5 wires
egt into the manifold (which sounds scary now I've read the zeitronic site)
boost tap

Starting to sound like something I should just pay for someone else to do in.

Final question. The serial cable that goes from the zt2 to the LCD how long is the one you get with the kit and how does it connect, any chance someone could take a picture of the sides and the back of the LCD - I'm just trying to work out where to put it.

Thanks again.

It actually is a very easy install. I just did it 3 days ago and took about an hour. I hooked up the LCD, WB, boost and mounted the control box. I was going to do the EGT but didnt have a tap for the probe.

Any chance someone can take a pix of where the cable goes into the LCD display? How much it sticks out and in which direction?

Also is the cable super long?

TTP I'll be placing my order for my wifes Xmas present to me later this week.
