From what I understand UTEC user always talk about how much they are able to advance their timing to gain peak HP and TQ.

However, I notice on Xede's maps They actually retard Timing to gain more power.

I'm confused can anyone explain ?

The XEDE uses offsets from the real values. When you lean the fuel out the ECU adds timing. The XEDE puts back the timing by adding an offset number.

correct me if I'm wrong
Example at 6000RPM AFR is 10.5:1 and ECU timing is at 10.
If you lean out the AFR to 11:1 the stock ECU actually will add timing (let's say timing greater than 10<T) ? and the Xede tunner basicly assumes how much timing the stock ECU will add and subtract it back ?

I thought the more advance the better ?

It is until you start knocking. It doesn't retard all the timing gained from leaning out the fuel. If you look at a race gas map for an XEDE you will see most of the columns are all zero with some cells having a small positive number in the timing map and the fuel map will even be leaner.
