UTEC dead. I/C sprayer always On?

Driving down the highway today on my way home from a snowboarding trip with the whole family in the car, the car died at 80 MPH. Funny thing was that the intercooler sprayer was on non stop when the ignition was on (after it died). I had no tools and could not work on it. Long story short (for now) I am in a hotel with my wife and kids and the car was towed to . I was so pissed that I went to Sears and bought a few tools and removed the UTEC. Guess what? Car runs fine now. It looks like the UTEC is dead. I am in a hotel writing this and the day has cost me about $400 so far. I will be on the road in the A.M. and I will update with more details when I get home.

that sucks. not saying your wrong, but do you have a map switcher? and if so, was it still on the correct map? i had a big problem with my car when my gf kicked my switcher and changed the maps while i was on the freeway. anyways, that really blows. i hope everything works out.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet. It could be any number of things, Utec or otherwise.
Anything from a short, the Map switch metioned earlier, or even a loose connection at the ECU or Utec.
Too many times on these forums, people bash something without research and the masses take it as iron-clad truth. Then you find out later, something else was at fault, but the damage has already been done.
Just because you removed the Utec and now it runs doen't mean you know what caused it.
Sorry for your situation. Hope everything works out.

Nah, I know Ed, he's just frustrated.. Not bashing the product..

I'm sure it was something straightforward (Once in awhile my MAF sensor drops out and the car dies) and I need to reset the ECU.. But thats a different issue in itself...

It'll all get resolved.

I have the same problem too. Sometimes when I park and just listen to the radio, I have to be careful that it's not stuck on. Haven't used that thing in a while, so the tank is usually empty.

There was no bashing in my thread. Just stating the facts. I love my UTEC and I would not consider switching. This problem was related to the UTEC. It had nothing to do with the remote map switch or any pinched wires. I know that Turbo XS will take care of me. They have great customer service and please do not interpret this as bashing them. They are a great company. It is interesting that 2 people so far have chimed in about the intercooler sprayer running by itself? I do believe that my problem was related to this.

Yea please let me know what they say.. If not then i will call jermaine.. I never really thought it wsa the utec till now..

If i turn the key slowly between the off and acc and kinda like hold it between the two i can get the water sprayer to come on everyttime..

On a side note one night my car out of no where wouldnt rev over 4500, it was like hitting a fuelcut at 4500. Weird....

I have played with this before and noticed that when I have the UTEC installed in my car my IC sprayer turns on briefly when starting the car and turning it off. It seems to happen when the key is between the ACC and START positions. If I pull the UTEC out then this issue doesnt occur at all. It is very odd and leaves a small puddle in my garage every morning. This would sound like there is some sort of short being created in the UTEC during that switch position. One thing I may try tonight is to put the car in on mode then wait for a sec before starting the car.

One time after turning the car off it left my IC sprayer going constantly and I had to unplug the battery to fix it. This only happened once though.
