New UTEC and now...?
Team,
I just got my (1st) UTEC and am really happy. I bought it used with maps on it. I ran with a stage 2 map at 22psi and the knock sensor went off (the CEL flashing for a brief second).
Question: Could it have hurt the motor? How many turns does the manual BC need to increase a 1 psi increment and how many psi's are pushed when closed completely (all the way to -).
Of course I will have it prof. tuned because, excuse my ignorance, this is all soo brand new to me.
I also would like to know if any of you has a map for the following mods:
Buschur Intake, HKS SSQV, TXS DownPipe, Greedy Ti Exhaust.
Again, I am trying to educate myself as much as possible and it is now even more fun since I can "talk" to the car thru means of CPU.
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated...

Well, you should run it in passthrough (map 0) until you can get it tuned..
its pretty unlikely that you hurt anything if it happened once..
ABC Completely closed will result in pretty much stock boost, if you removed the upper restrictor near the solenoid, then you will get a boost spike, but its basically going to be "Stock" boost levels.
You never want to rely on "pulling" timing since a really severe bout of detonation just can't be remedied in time to prevent damage...
As a guideline, the stage2 map is closest to what would work with your mods. If your still running a stock MAF (most of us are) you **MUST** recirculate your HKS SSQV back into the intake, its unlikely you'lll be able to adequately tune for a non-recirculating BOV, once it vents, you basically have significantly more fuel metered than the air left in the intercooler pipe, so it would likely not recover metering quickly enough.. you can use an HKS EIDS, which basically is a signal buffer and clamp which prevents sudden frequency changes and smooths things out so the idle can recover, you can "Simulate" something like that in the UTEC, but it just won't work and wreaks havoc with your idle fuel trims. Your just better off recirculating (and to be completely honest, I have an SSQV recirculated, but I can run it open or recirc, and its pretty much as loud either way (I HATE the noise it makes)

Thank you Jack, do you know how many revolutions on the MBC presents 1 psi increase? I never got that really. My (fancy pants bar boost gauge) is now peaked at 1.3 bar (14x1.3=PSI value) so 18.2 psi set at 3 full revolutions on the mbc. Does that sound right?
thnx for all your guys help ;-)

Malibu, (your name is kinda funny because I grew up in that town, hehehe)...thnx for the info on this. I switched to the 0 map to be safe until I get it tuned right. It now pushes stock levels with mbc closed like you said.
So anyway, very interesting stuff and I admire anyone who knows how to tune this thing.
