Close Loop Boost - Spikes in high gear

I've been running close loop boost for a whiel and everything seems to be fine. However, I realized that if I punch it at 3000 rpm in 5th gear, it over boost to aorund 1.7bar!!!!! I know we seldomly gun it in 5th at around 3000rpm, but I am trying to eliminate any possible risk when my wife is the second driver of this EVO.

Is there any way that I can avoid this? May be lowering my gain even more? My Boost Gain is set to "40" now.

Thanks!

Lowering your gain will make the boost spike worse. You need to raise the gain back closer to stock (50). My experience is that 40 is too low for stock turbo. Lower gain= quicker spoolup = large spike
higher gain = slower spoolup = more stable boost

Hope this helps

Thank you gestalt!!

It seems to run better with gain set at 50. I just have to retune all the boost map now after adjusting the boost gain... what a pain!
