Map sensor installed
Map sensor installed
I keep seeing everyone talking about keeping the vac line as short as possible and the wires too. Why is that? Is it just to keep the calibration numbers in the utec close to correct? Or does it actually affect the map sensor?
I will be hooking up my alky kit soon and will be using my map sensor for the utec for the progressive controller on the kit. Will it have to calibrated too? If not then Why does the utec have to be calibrated?

Its for several reasons.. the first easy answer is the UTEC comes with calibration values for a typical GM sensor install, so if you want the values to be close (in my case it actually was almost perfect) you keep the lengths of wire as short as possible to reduce signal loss, since its an analog signal, poor connections and long wires and even unshielded radio noise could affect the reading. The short hoses gives you the most accurate measurement since some vacuum lines will swell under boost and may show slightly lower pressure because of it. (at least it could be enough difference to affect the accuracy of the gauge)
