What is everybody's opinion on the Power FC and engine reliability? My goals are: 1. reliability, 2. power, 3. simplicity, 4. cost, and 5. reliability.

What kind of gains can I expect with the Power FC if I want to keep reliability?

What are the risks when adding an aftermarket EMS?

Are my goals unreasonable?

Thanks.

I ran my Power FC with the stock map on my evo when I only had a turbo back exhaust and apexi air filter. Worked great for over a year, with solid gains in performance. It was not optimized (ran a bit rich for me), but that should tell you how reliable it is.

That's good info. My plan is to get a full turbo back exhaust (currently cat back), Power FC with boost controller, and a good tune. I'm told this will provide up to a 60 HP gain.

yup I would say that... around 30 for the turbo back and around 30 from the tune. Boost controller will give you power throughout the powerband so thats a good first step. In fact thats the way I went for awhile until I have added other stuff

How about reliability? What is your mileage and have you had any issues?

I love my PFC. I have the PFC and FC-Datalogit software. The FCD will aloow you to tune quite a bit and it's a lot easier to see the hole map instead of just a 5x5. I am pushing 311WHP and still getting 20 mpg. I have no issues on mine. I read about other people having problems, but I think it has a lot to do with not reading all the directions about it. If you look under setting in this same section, you will see the .dat file for mine. Have fun if you get it!!

I use them all the time with flawless reliability and they definately are FAR easier to setup than any other standalone out there. Also, they run just like stock ECU unlike many other standalones that all have their little quirks.

It may not have the features other standalones have, such as nitrous controls, wideband plug-ins, etc...but for rock solid reliability, I do not think it can be beat.

Well, I ended up ordering a Xede with the new SMART technology and wideband. Thanks for everybody's help.

Actually if yuo use the Datalogit you can have inputs and outputs so that you can integrate wideband and nitrous.

Dan,
You seem to be the only vendor on this part of the forums that offer direct support for this. Thats cool! I just am starting to think about wher I want to go.
