Knock Count 1

Every once and a while I pick up a knock count of 1. Is such a low knock count something to worry about? I can't seem to tune it out. Added fuel. Retarded timing but nothing helps. It only happens now and then and never anything above 1.

It may be just a little more sensitive than others. Try to get something to listen to the knock for real and see if it is knock or just noise levels. I wouldnt worry about a knock count of 1 degree every once and while.. especially if it isnt consistent but dont go by my words because then Id feel bad if something blew

I have the similar problem. But I just go ahead to -0.5 degress in those area then ignored it. If your knock sensor is working properly, it won't be destructive anyway.

Generally knock counts over 3-5 would me more concerning than a 1..

Here's the best I can figure with my car..

Sudden timing or fueling changes, transitioning between openloop/closedloop, or going off throttle occasionally will trigger the knock count to 1 or 2.. None of those things were under very heavy load, nor were they under stress to the engine, so I can only figure its some sort of noise transmitting through the block from the valvetrain or transmission. When I listen to the engine, all I ever hear is taps and clunks, no "plinks" that would indicate detonation or knock of some sort..

So to make a long story short, if your unable to "tune it out" its probably some sort of resonant noise.
