If you have the harness, just wait 'til you get to the tuner. It's like 5 min. install, and if it's set wrong for your car, you're fugged. Even if people try to explain on here how to do it, I'd just wait.

make the high throttle & Low throttle setting 0 for all the rpm range.
that is all you can change with SAFC.

Get a logger and tune yourself. It is not that hard to tune.
I have a logger for sale: 65 dollars.
It works with laptop computers.

this is true, sort of. When I got mine it was set for 6 cyl, non-Karman, etc. which spells bad news. It's easy to do but to make sure you have -everything- right, let someone who knows it see it in person.

1) The most important thing to say is that if you don't plan on doing your own tuning, then sell it and get a flash. There is no reason to install the S-AFC, then take it somewhere to be tuned by someone else, because the whole purpose of it is to have a tuning device that allows you to tune yourself on a daily basis and whenever you add new mods. If you aren't going to do that, then you need a flash.

2) You can go ahead and install it as long as you know how to go into the settings and set the hi- and lo-throttle parameters to 0 across the entire rpm band. This is incredibly easy, but make sure you get it done right before driving. You don't even have to crank the car...just put the key in the "ON" position and make the changes.

3) If you plan on getting a fuel pump, do not get it tuned before the fuel pump, because that will make a significant difference in your hi-throttle settings.

WT, remember mine was totally set wrong, and even though we "0'd" everything out, it was still wrong. This dude sounds like he should definitely take the cautious route...

i wanna tune it myself. but i dun have wideband and logger now. i am going to buy them and learn how to tune it myself. flash is too expensive and it's not a "long term investment". but since i am still new to evo and tuning, i wonder if i will blow me engine easily?

Living in Los Angeles, you should easily be able to find a friend with an Evo and logger who will let you borrow his datalogger and ride with you for a good initial tune, then, as you get the funds, you can add mods and buy your own equipment and really do it well.

get the flash first its only 200.00 and get the good stuff from the base flash, then use your afc to tune with. this is the way to do it if you plan on using race fuel. its makes a huge difference at the track when you can pull fuel outta 110 oct . to each their own, i piggy back my flash with a safc2
