Help Please!!
I just installed my new UTEC and my car is running horrible. It feels like MAF problems. The car is idling at like 10.2 AFR. When I drive it it runs extremely rough (bucking alot) and this is on map 0 (stock mode) I also have the turboxs stage 2 map as map 2 and it runs the exact same way. I thought that it may have been my turbo timer since it was spliced into the harness, but I took the turbo timer off and repaired those wires and it still runs horrible. Any suggestions as to what might be going on?
Yes I have the turbo xs stage 2 map as map 2 so I switched to that and it runs the same. I also took the utec off and just used factory ecu and the car ran fine. I put the utec back on and now it runs like crap again.
I had an issue with my piggyback, (not what you have,) but unplug the negative terminal on the battery for 10 Minutes, start the car and DON'T TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR for another 5 minutes,(let it idle) this resets all. Good luck! This did the trick for me!
Is you CEL light going on when the UTEC is installed? Its a dead giveaway..
I had a corrupt firmware on the UTEC at one point that caused that.. So you could reflash the UTEC for the new firmware.. Flashing it should also reset all of the settings to default which could help you.
Also, make sure its plugged in firmly to the ECU and the harness to the ECU doesnt look damaged.
What your describing is what happens to my car if it doesnt fully initialize the UTEC and MAF sensor before cranking the engine, it causes the car to drop into open loop mode and runs poorly.. Turn the key, wait a few seconds, then crank the engine.. see if that helps..
If that doesnt help, then you might have a defective unit. Did you purchase it new or used? Typically used units have been handled pretty roughly and could have had one of the wires broken or pin damaged in its removal. Definitely call turboXS and have a chat with them about your options if none of the simple suggestions work for you.

The CEL has been on since my exhaust install (no CC), but I did go into the settings and turned the CEL off to inspect what you are describing and it stayed off. I have also removed and reinstalled the utec several times (inspecting all wires and connectors closely) and found no problems with the install. The last time I installed it the car acted as if the launch control was on (at 4500rpms) so I went into the settings and checked and the launch control was off. However, after driving the car for a short period of time it no longer acted as if the launch control was on. The car runs horrible with the utec (even on map 0)and fine with the factory ecu. The car also idles appx. 500-600rpms higher than normal with the utec installed and drinks gas. I did purchase the utec new and it did not seem to be tampered with to my knowledge. I have also tried calling turboxs and described my problems and they do not seem to have the time or want to help me. I was told to install my tuner and recheck my AFR. I don't have to check the AFR to know that it is running horrible its obvious by the bucking and the fact that the car is almost undrivable(I know that the AFR are not accurate with the TT but something throws a red flag when before the install AFR is around 14.6 at idle and after 10.2. The reflash sounds like a good idea I will try that. Thank you all for your input.

OK..........I reflashed the unit and that didn't work either. The car still runs the exact same, and this time after the install it is doing that same launch control thing (4500rpms) when the launch control is not even turned on. I guess I just got a defective unit
I am going to call turboxs on monday to see if they will do an exchange. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It sounds like you've been through most, if not all of this already, but here are some general things to check when haveing issues with the UTEC:
If you're using a remote switch to change maps, make sure the map switch on the main unit is on zero.
Make sure you're using a base map designed for use with the version of the UTEC software that you're running.
If it's not one of the above, re-load the 1.7 software and then a base map from the TurboXS website and see if you're software or map got corrupted. These things do happen from time to time.

All is well now guys.......Turbo XS is great.........I sent the defective unit back and received a brand new one swiftly with no questions asked. The new unit works as it is supposed to and everything runs great. Thanks for all the help.
