Timing to help Spool-up
Timing to help Spool-up
I know the Autronic features an ALS. But in my eyes this is a bit aggressive for a daily driven car.
Still I heard the stock ECU helps the turbo to spool up by using a special timing during the phase of putting it to the floor and spool-up.
Can anyone help me or give me any settings for an aggressiv Spool-Up?
Thanks

Perhaps, if you want a agressive spool up go with:
a downpipe
264/264 Cams
3" turbo back
MBC
CAI
My spool up is beyond believe, I hit absolutely maximum boost(24-26psi peak) before 3000rpm on my MR. I am tuned also. I wouldn't ever , ever, ever change my setup at all.
I line up with a couple of friends with 500hp Cobras and some other with massive superchargers GT mustangs and by the time they get a decent full boost the game is over. These guys are capable of traping 115MpH plus but it is too late to start catching me with me from a roll. I have no competition with them.
Unless you go with a stroker and maybe NOS, the stock turbo can give you explosive results if properly fitted with the correct bolt ons. If you are looking for superfast spool up choose the 264/264 cams then.
In my car there is no need to shift down to second gear at 45MPH, the 4th gear does better than 3rd and second from a roll.
Good luck!!

Very interesting, I must say!
I have the original DP, a 100 cell cat (61mm piping) and a HKS Drager II catback 3''). I noticed an improvement in Spool up by these parts already. So maybe a DP would help even more.
What I really didnt know is that cams also make Spool up better! Up to now I only heard of cams improving in midrange an top end, but never down low.
So if I got you right, your spool-Up is much better than stock!
How much are the cams good for in the top end?
cheers!

I am saying is the combination of everything I listed in the first post. Keep in mind I also have Lower and upper intercooler pipes which I hear from everyone in this forum that it reduces spool up by another 300-400rpms.
Tune your a/f ratio to transion from no boost/no vacumm 12.0 to 1, to 7 psi 11.7 to 1, to 14 psi 11.5 to 1 to 18 psi 11.2 to 1. As you go over to boost pull down your timing in the lower rpms, then after you hit full boost (also your torque peak) start ramping it up .5 degrees per 500 rpm. The a/f ratios are for 93 octane. - .2 for 91, + .2 for 100.
