Factory Warrenty?
If i where to get this flash, would the Mitsu tech be able to tell any difference when scanning for trouble codes should i run into a warrenty issue?
I asked Works about this. They told me the same about the '05. I didn't understand if the change was in the ecu or the obd system. Also your reflash could get erased at the dealer if there is a recall based on the ecu tuning and the dealerships are reflashing them. So make sure you are up to date on recall status.
Does anyone out there have a flash that can say for sure that the dealer cannot detect it? I am skeptical, but if true I would love to have a Works flash.

I was about to ask the same question about the dealer detecting an ECU flash and here it is lol
i def wanna flash my 2006 MR, either vishnu/works, etc so id love to know whether or not the dealer can detect an ecu flash on the IX's

They won't unless they hook it up to the OBD II port. Unlike European cars you we have different ECU's and they are not synched. For exmple in Volvo there is one ECU that monitors and controls all the other ecu's and every part of the car from the door locks to fuel management and they are required to have the ecu scanned to the computer whenever the car is brought in for service even to reset the oil change light. Once hooked up our ME7 ECU tells us everything we need to know including how many times the ecu has been flashed. Evo's don't adhere to that. Hope this helps

The WORKS P2 for Evo's from 2003-2005 is virtually undetectable at the dealer and will not interfere w/ Mitsubishi updates.
If a savy engineer wants to spend countless hours searching for a flash they may be able to detect subtle changes to the OEM tune. Rarely if ever, does a savy engineer work at any dealer we've encountered.

thanks
I spoke to Oliver at works yesterday on the phone and plan on picking up a p2 in the next few weeks- forgot to ask him how much it costs for a reflash if I do any other mods- what do you charge?

It can be detected but they would have no reason to want to spend the extra time just to try to see if the maps are different. I work at a dealer and being on flat rate I would rather just fix the car and get paid than spend a whole lot of time trying to see if someones ecu is flashed just to void the warranty. Its not like I am the one paying for the repair. If they are just scanning for codes for a check engine light or something it wont show up. They would actually have to look deeper into it in order to find any changes. The only reason I can think of someone checking for a flash is if the tune was bad and causing other problems which they were trying to diagnose. If the engine is knocking real bad or throwing po170 codes then they might have to look at the maps to make sure thats not the cause.
