My 2006 Evo IX MR dyno tuning results....
First of all I want to extend a big thanks to the guys at MZM International in Austin, TX for the work that they did and the time that they spent on my car. I brought my own parts that they gladly installed and made sure that fitment was top notch.
I have a 2006 Graphite Gray Evo IX MR that had just about 3,000 miles on it and was just itching to give it a little kick in the pants. I was originally going to wait for a tuner to come visit either Houston or Dallas, but since Mohammed had done a good job on my 2004 RS, I thought it would be good to keep the business local.
When I got there, I had them install my UR Hi flow cat and an RMR catback exhaust. The only other modification was a Works drop in filter that I had installed a couple of weeks ago.
After the parts were installed the car was strapped onto MZM's Mustang Dyno which as some of you know is a real heartbreaker. Just to give you an idea, my 2004 RS with White Rabbit turbo, 272 Intake, 264 Exhaust Cams, Cam Gears, SMC alcohol injection, Full 3" TBE, Walbro Fuel Pump and custom intake only registered 309 HP and 311 TQ on this thing.
Well, with a little massaging here and there this is what he was able to come up with in just a couple of hours. The car retains perfectly stock driveability and the power delivery is smooth right up until redline. There might be some more room in there, but I was looking for a safe, reliable tune that wouldn't sacrifice everyday driveability.

the horsepower tabletops all the way to redline and the torque comes in a whole bunch sooner than before. All in all the car feels wonderful. I'm extremely happy with the results from just a catback and hi flow..... who knows how much more difference there would be with a DP and cat delete..... have to think about it......
If you're local to South Texas and don't want to wait for someone to come in from out of town, I would highly recommend MZM. The service was top notch and Mohammed and his brothers wanted to be certain that I was satisfied with thier work and the tune.
Thanks again guys,
Tony

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that (this is on 93 octane, BTW...) boost is peaking at 22lbs and tapering to about 19lbs. The restrictor pill was removed also but no bleeder was installed.
I'll call MZM tomorrow and find out for certain what the boost setting were.

Do you have a boost guage other than the factory unit?

Still using the factory gauge on this one. Had a really neat fiberglass two gauge panel that fit in the lower DIN slot of the 04, but since this one came with gauges, albeit small, hard to read, cheap ones.... I figured I'd just leave well enough alone. I knew that I wasn't ever going to be pushing 26lbs again like I did with the White Rabbit and methanol injection.......
The car pulls very hard. I just drove it home this afternoon from Austin and had to go straight back to work so I really haven't had a chance to thrash it. If the weather permits, I think we'll be heading to the track this Friday evening so that I can see what kind of numbers it puts down. BTW, he also included the two step launch control with this flash. I've never tried it so it should be fun seeing what it can do.
I'll post up again after I get a timeslip to back up these numbers. I know that they seem low, but this dyno is probably the lowest one I've ever seen. Probably compares pretty well with Buschur's MD.

BTW, this is the first IX that MZM has tuned. If I was able to leave the car with them longer, I'm sure Mohammed would have been able to find some more power in there, unfortunately I was pressed for time but I have absolutely nothing to complain about, the car is awesome!!

Good numbers, I could see gaining another 10-15WHP with a test pipe and downpipe and more tuning, but who cares you have a kick *** ride and possibly still have a warranty (if they don't find out about the flash).
If you take it to the track and your a decent driver, I'd predict you hitting 12.4-12.5@110MPH. Possibly better, depending on how low this Mustang reads.

It's good power and gains, but the claims of earlier torque I think are off. If you notice, the spoolup is the same, if not earlier, on the stock run. The only reason peak torque is at 4250 on the stock run is because the initial torque spike is low due to the stock boost. The real peak torque area is below 3500rpm, but the boost fluctuated and rose a little to provide a slightly higher tq reading at 4250. It didn't actually take that long to spool - you spooled way before then.
I would also be very concerned about relying on removed boost pills to achieve that boost. You should either be using an MBC or a boost hose designed to maintain proper boost. Without that pill, the ECU doesn't know what to do. Also, without that pill, boost is erratic. Do you have boost logs? MDs can usually provide that...

Just curious about your overall thoughts on reflash.
I'm about to reflash my ecu on friday with an ecutek flash and drop in filter. So far from what I've been told this will produce close to a 30-40+ hp at the wheels gain. I just thought that I'd like to get your point of view on this before I do this. I would appreciate a response back thanks. cjlevo92006
