Log Time - Tune Tomorrow, Opinions wanted.

My thoughts:

could use a little fuel on spoolup, but the rest of it, for a street-fuel map seems good, we'll see tomorrow on the dyno.

so what happened on the dyno?

That sure looks like a lot of timing up top. Was this a race gas or alky tune?

that was all the timing based off the stock map, went in with no knock at all, pulled a first run of 286, with it pulling timing up top, flatted out the a/f, ended up right at 300, then pulled a good amount of timing up top, and actually lost a few hp. no worries for me though, it's a reasonably safe road tune now..

next time sean is through, i'll let him have fun with it.

My maps weren't calling for anywhere near that much timing up top, was kinda baffling to me honestly. I de-tuned it to where i felt comfortable, which was a good deal, (also due to lack of airflow in the dyno room, 2 fans just can't keep up.)

What are your mods? You can definately put more timing in for torque if you wanted. I also think that there is a lot of timing up top but if the motor likes it, no problem. Fuel looks nice.

all bolt-ons, 3" turbo back, test pipe, injen fmic/pipes/intake, hks 272's (-4,-1)

See, the timing is kinda bothering me, i wasn't calling for anywhere near that timing, but yet, it was running it. I pulled a lot out for a safer road tune on the dyno, but saved the old map, because i really wasn't getting any knock at all.

My map says i'm calling for a max of +20 at any given point, any reason it'd be adding it on it's own?

oh wow..nvm my comments, i was looking at the wrong column. You're utec timing is fine. My only suggestion would to move the peak torque timing down to about 3700 or so beceause the way you have it now, you're saying peak torque is above 4k and it shouldn't be. The ecu timing is probably adding on it's own since you have bigger injectors.

any chance you could elaborate, or point me to some more info on your last sentance?

This map was roughly based off the base map, timing has only been pulled, never added, so it's about as watered down as can be, yet, i was getting a few instances of knock up top(before i posted this whole chart) and therefore, backed the timing down some more.

The unwanted adding is kinda a nuisance, but i'm not 100% sure yet.

With bigger injectors, usually people take more fuel away from the ecu which tricks the ecu into throwing more timing at the motor. That's why the ecu timing is going high, and this is why safcs work =).

ahh, i see.

Now my question is i set my injector size for 680, and tuned accordingly, and it works fine, should i have set it at 750 (which they are?)

When i set it to 750 it was SUPER rough, and didn't wanna run, 680 setting ran, but i still added fuel under 1500.

Would setting it different make any change through utec?

The injector scaling feature in the UTEC uses an arbitrary number. Even though you have 750's , putting 750 into the utec isn't really the way to do it. It's a number you'd have to find out, it could be 300 or it could be 600 (just throwing some numbers out there). What i'd recommend doing is just set the injector size back to stock 550 and 550. I'd do all the scaling through the utec fuel map by starting off with -10 across the whole board.

Well, i mean, other than adding timing, which i pulled it back a little, it runs good.

And for now, it's moderatly tuned that way, may adjust later though. Thanks for the input.
