Works has a flash for IX.
Their boost doesn't drop off because they tap into the stock solenoid and alter boost that way, arguably more reliable and A LOT more stealth than any other method, but you have to pay $$$$.

Al said he can flash you BACK to stock in case you need to for whatever concerns, which is awesome if you're in the area, or even if you are willing to ship him your ecu and wait a day to get it back.

All flashes are pretty good and will yield awesome results, it's a question of who you want to go with and the failure rate out there.
As of now, no tuner has a higher failure rate than stock (from my last count).

PS, Works customers haven't reported any engine related failures yet.

I notice that after 4000 rpm it doesn't pull hard anymore. I would like to feel how a flashed evo feels like when it keeps boost all the way to redline. It would be freaking awesome i think because up to 4000 is already nice for me.

Which tuner would you go to for a flash on a IX with no other mods? I am looking for any experiences that you have had, both good and bad. I am going to use the mail-in flash method. I don't want an ecutek as it is detectable by the dealership. I have read about flashes that hold boost, some that say they do but don't based on things I have read. I have seen prices ranging from $200 to $600. Price isn't the issue, but I want the one that is most reliable.
Thanks.
If price is not an issue and you really want a system that cannot be seen by the dealer then get an exed piggy back from Vinshu. They are having a sale on them. You can always remove the piggy back and go back to stock w/o the hassle of flashing the ECU back to stock. The nice thing about the exed is that you can get two maps one for high octane gas and one for regular gas; one for daily driving and one for the track. I am not sure if you will need fuel pump or MBC if you only have a TBE as I do.

I will be getting mine installed and ynoed at Tuning Technologies on the 24th of this month

Dude- You live in CT.... you should go with Dynoflash. Al, Shiv (Vishnu Tuning) and Works are all arguably the 3 top flash type Evo tuners, and they all get great results (they go about it slightly differently). I chose Works because Im in Cali. I got a full road and dyno tune. Your best bet is to get on Al's schedule and get a full road and dyno tune from him. That way you are close to your vendor, and he is a very great and knowledgable tuner. I would take a custom tune ocver a mail-in anytime. Thanks for chiming in with the info AL!

I think the vishnu Xede requires a flash of the stock ECU (XFlash) to go with it, if you want to raise the limits (rpm, boost cut).

yeah actually i just noticed, go TO AL, he's right there. . .it's smart to just go to the reputable tuner in your neighborhood, so you can get custom tuned, and if stuff goes wrong, you can go **** on them. . .haha!

I do not want to raise the rev limiter. 7500-7600 is plenty. Besides the rev limit is usually raised to 7800 and that is not much, unless you are drag racing and you want to stay in a certain gear at the last few feet of the 1/4 mile.

Why get a Works flash when Al is loco? I mean local.

I like the idea of not having to use a boost controller. As far as I know, works is the only tuner around that can hold boost without a controller or using ecutek.

Wrong they use ECUTEK. Their modified boost tube along with ECUTEK is what they use. ECUTEK can control boost. Check out the excellent write up on works site. There are lot's of good flash tuner's out there.

The WORKS P2R does not use the ECUTEK, the P2E does - pick your poison.
