Intake, Turbo-Back, and IC = Fuel Cut????
Intake, Turbo-Back, and IC = Fuel Cut????
Installed a K&N Cone filter, AMS turbo-back exhaust w/ testpipe, and a AMS FMIC kit.
Under full load usually only in 3rd gear or higher I am hitting what I figure is probably a fuel cut from the slight boost increase?
The car is a brand new MR.
I am new to EVOs... is there a MAP sensor for the stock boost guage and fuel cut that I can put a fuel cut defencer on?... or is it using MAF voltage for fuel cut?
About to install HKS knock/amp wideband with EVC boost controller and some other goodies... but want to get this taken care of first.
Thanks

If you don't have a boost controller on the car, you might run into high boost spike due to the lack of back pressure in the exhaust and intercooler pipes. My boost was a lot higher just after installation of a TBE.
It is probably a good idea to pick up a cheap boost gauge and MBC if you want to wait on the other goodies. That way you can regulate the boost under daily conditions for now.

i understand why its happening... i am asking how to fix it?
how do i remove fuel cut? There is nothing I can do that is going to lower the boost, and tuning the car or installing a boost controller will not fix fuel cut either. First thing first is to fix a problem, and the problem I am having is hitting fuel cut.
so whats the EVO thing to do about fuel cut? Is there a MAP sensor I can put a fuel cut defencer on?

that is what the above poster was saying, a flash will fix it. you need to get flashed so the car will maximize the utilization of the new additions while removing boost taper, fuel cut, etc. visit dynoflash.com and it tells you the other features.
Read this thread so you can figured out which tune is right for you.

i didnt really want a tune... i mean does this car really need a tune just to run intake and exhaust wtf? im hoping its pig rich and ill just leave it there... really i just want out of fuel cut... is that so hard with this car? i have to get a friggin EMS just to get out of fuel cut... ok..
hey i have installed a k&n typhone cold air intake and a megan turboback exhaust and greddy-rs bov and i dont have any problems wtih fuel cut offs but the cars running a lil rich which is better then lean soo ya
Hey phunk, Its probably the boost control by the ECU or the internal wastegate not reacting fast enough to the new rate of boost buildup. I’m getting much higher boost overshoot with an aftermarket boost controller so that may not work for you, however try that first as it will make your car hold boost better at high RPM (close to redline) as well and that can only be a good thing. Very easy to install, but go with a good one like the GReddy PRofec B-spec 2 because it will have better control algorithm and will track better.
If that does not help then there is your answer

Do yourself a favor and send you're ECU to Dynoflash for a mail in tune for you're mods. For $200 Al will remove fuel/boost cut, extend rev limiter, help stabilize boost taper, and you will notice a bigger gain than with all the parts already on the car.
If you would have done some reading before buying parts you would know that by adding an intake you disrupt the flow of air to the MAF which can mess with the ECU. Probably the major reason you're hitting fuel cut.
