WHo in colorado really knows what they're doing with utec
lol, Just look under all jack's posts and i think you'll find anything your looking for, on the other hand Dryad has a great write up somewhere on here to creat your own base map

I really think this is the best unit (piggyback) out there and is worth every dollar spent, especially if you have to be OBD compliant.
I have learned so much over the last 2 years using this, I had a wrx beta tester teach me the unit and some of the tricks in using the utec.
What kind of wideband did you choose? If it isn't a TXS tuner there is a program out there that will let you use a LM-1, LC-1, AEM, and one other one I can't remeber the name off hand.
Once again welcome to the club.

), but I also have yet to install the utec yet (other priorities, but only temporary). To be honest, I'm not sure which one I want to run. What I want in a wideband is both a 2 1/16 in gauge as well as datalogging capability. I would be absolutely estatic if it was compatible with the UTEC. Any suggestions, as well as price?

The point of getting a standalone, like the UTEC, is 1. to tune to a level that a flash CAN'T. 2. to be able to run multiple maps for differrent situations. 3. To be able to either tune yourself or have tuned with very little vehicle downtime. What I spend on tuning is MY perogative. I do thank you for the offer, however I find myself irrefutably having to pass it up.
BTW, a wideband and datalogging capabilities are mandatory without reguard of what tuning path one takes.

1) I'm not aware of any tuning level you can get to with a UTEC that you can't with a flash unless you're referring to going to speed density.
2) Yes, multiple maps are nice if you actually use them. There are dual-stage flashes, and you can run a cheap $200 SAFC on top of the flash for fine-tuning on race gas, if necessary.
3) Yes, I agree that it's better to have a self-tuning device if you tune yourself, but you won't be.
Btw, no, a wideband and datalogging device are not mandatory for every tuning path. It's not needed at all with a flash, although they're nice to have.
Anyway, I was just trying to help. Hopefully, you don't rely on some local shop to tune you and instead utilize the expertise of MalibuJack, Dryad, and even Nirvevo who is in the Denver area so that you can have full control of your own tune without spending so much money.
