HELP: Need help on some codes since utec install...

Alright, so here's the skinny. I installed the utec, had it tuned right away by doug at topspeed. Car ran great on the dyno. We got it on the road and started to experience the infamous misfire code(p0300), and ever since I throw 50-60% of the time I go full throttle/boost. I gapped the plugs all the way down the .022, still have the problem. Also, 95% of the time it throws the p0304 code with it, so i guess its cylider #4 that is having all the problems.

Anyway, anyone else had this problem with the utec? Is an HKS DLII in my future? What does this do to your ECU when this code is thrown? any safety measures that hurts the cars performance? Any light on this issue would be great. The car has NEVER thrown the 0300 before, ever.

Also, how many of you are using the UTEC to control the stock BCS? any of you running 26-27psi on it? Car is spiking to 27psi but doesn't really hold it out, this is on a 35r btw. Usually drops to 24-25psi, and im almost positive it wasn't doing that on the dyno. I have thrown the 'wastegate' code before as well(after the utec install) but it doesn't seem to be a repetative code.

Please utec guys, give me some help.

Thanks

The wastegate code is pretty typical, because your controlling boost through the UTEC and ignoring the ECU's signal, which means the ECU thinks its not working right.. The technical reason is the boost is ramping faster than the ECU expects and its trying to kill boost by toggling the stock solenoid. I also periodically would get an overboost code because the maf is reading a number higher than the particular load expects (due to the bhigher boost)

the P0300 I'm not sure about, but if your getting a good misfire and then a specific bank, I would look at the coil wire or coils, then maybe an ignition upgrade (which is probably a good idea anyway)

Oh and replace the stock BCS with a Perrin solenoid, or GM solenoid in its place, will give you alot of control

You can get them at www.gmpartsdirect.com I forget the part numbers they are around here somewhere

hijack

Hey jack did you need to use the ABC with the GM solenoid or is the solenoid strong enough to turn the boost up higher then the stocker.

Its used in place of all the original boost control parts.. Basically, you hook it up in-line to your source, solenoid, actuator, when its open 0% duty it will give you wastegate pressure, when its 100% its completely closed (and will give you runaway boost like not having a boost line installed) with closed loop control it works even better. you can get boost from wastegate to 25psi (whatever the max you would get on the turbo) Holding it through redline is a factor of the turbo efficiency, wastegate spring, etc..

I would go and get the dealer flash and see if that remedies it. I have had a reocuring P0300 for the longest time and after getting the flash i haven't had a single issue.

i never had one, until the utec and 35r. so i attribute it to either the utec, or the new found POWAH. either way, it would be nice to know that if you actually were blowing the spark out, you would get the 0300. anyone know?
