I just got the evo not to long ago for some reason 5th gear and 5th only around 4-7 rpms the car seems to hesitate and jerk as if the turbo was stugleing to kick in or something idk but what could be the cause of this? and if it is the trani then why 5 and 1st threw 4th are perfect i would think 5th would be the last to go.....thnkx email me if u want guinea549@hotmail.com

Sounds like fuel cut. How much boost are you running when that happens?

Still sounds like feel cut to me but it usually wouldn't happen at 14psi.

This is also something you would get with an aftermarket BOV, which is why I hate them. They just dont respond correctly to the boost, no boost conditions of 5th gear, so you get a lot of bucking. This may be causing your turbo to get some shudder, and the only time I ever had this issue was in 5th gear, until I went to the MR BOV. Now, no more issues.

Fifth gear has the most load so in the lower gears, the lesser amount of load may not be enough to be causing the problem.

hey budd, if your evo is COMPLETLY STOCK, then i would think its one of the these two problems.....either one of your o2 sensors turned **** up and croaked, OR it could be your plugs.....THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT....the evo 8 4g63 engine is WELL knows for this issue, i even had this problem, check the spark plugs, see........if it rains a lot, water gets in there and causes havock, now the spark plugs have rubber boots and there is a drain there on the valve cover but it honestly it doesent seem to work, somehow number 1 and number 3 cylinder spark pugs always seem to get condensation in them, i looked at my stock plugs about a month ago, (1 and a half years of owning my evo) and they were corroded badly, caused my engine to sputter in 5th gear while on the highway for 1 or more hours something to think about, anyways i hope this was of some use to ya, take care, lataaaaaa

i have MAD fuel cut in almost every gear when i get on it(like meaning flooring it, racing you would say) and i dont get it i bought these spark plugs but not NGK's and i was wondering if this could be my prob??...and my car is not stock i have:

Megan racing turboback exhaust, test pipe, down pipe.
Injen intake and UPIC piping.
ACT clutch.
hks TT.
Autometer boost/vaccuum gauge

thats mostly the mods that i think would effect the car....it stutters/farts/spits/ or whatever bull**** ever since i installed my exhaust and everything but i also changed my spark plugs and im thinking it possible could be the problem to it since they arent no NGK spark plugs....and i also wanted to know WHAT KIND OF NGK's SPARK PLUGS do i need for the evo 8....it would really help! thanks guys!!!
