Evo tuning revolution

Well the tuning revolution is about to begin. My OpenECU wire will hopefully be here tomorrow. Big thanks to Mike and Jason at Mynes and Colby the software guy.

I'm already working with mine.. Really exciting.. I am at the moment trying to determine if an 05 firmware can be flashed onto an 03 or 04 ECU (after I figure out if I can transfer the Immobilizer code using the cable)

What is the advantage of that?

the 05 has the standing rev limiter (Launch control) code, the 03 ECU does not have it, even though the clutch switch is looped through the ECU in the wiring harness for both (ECU wiring is identical from 03-05 USDM Models as far as I can tell)

Another difference is the intercooler sprayer, there is an input for identifying the switch status, and an output to turn the sprayer on and off.. But I don't use mine..

My P2R has launch control at 5k. It's a 2003 ECU. Is this code added to the ECU when it was reflashed by WORKS?

THANK YOU! Finally an answer I didn't have to dig through pages of documentation to find.. I saw the definition there, but didn't know if there was supporting code for it in the ECU..

Any word on flashing parts of the 05 setup to previous years? I want knock sensors that aren't scared of cars in front of me at the drag strip

Also note

You CAN NOT use flashing equipment to move one ecu from opne car to another

That requires a MUT III scan tool which you can buy for $3700 or lease or just pay a dealer to do it

The flashing equipment is for tuning a ecu which is already installed and synched in one car

The best way to handle that as far as I have gathered is to obtain a used 2005 ecu - have it synched into your car and then you have the entire 2005 set up

In most cases you can seell your original ecu to cover the cost

BTW - I have one used 2005 ecu which I am selling for $400 if anyone wants a spare
