Question Japanese EVO VII needs ECU..

Hi everybody,

We just imported a Japanese spec. EVO VII. Car have a broken ECU . We decided to run it with a big turbo and an aftermarket ECU .

My questions:

1) Does the factory ECU controll things like AWD trans., Diff. lock, SRS, ABS, ........ ?

2) If yes, What are they?

3) What ECU do you prefer to controll the engine? And what for the other things?

Please ....

OK, I'll suppose no one here knows about the Japanese spec Evo VII. So, I need to get any Evo VII ECU (or AWD controller if there) harnesses or diagrams to start my researches.
Do any one have that??

Please, help newbies in EVO world ..

Hi

The AYC ( active yaw control) & ACD ( active center diff) have separate ECUs. I have a JDM Evo 7 & use an ECU+ piggy back ECU, which was developed for the USDM Evo8, these two ECUs would seem t be the same.

Hi burgers22,

I don't have factory ecu. I have Apexi Power FC but it is for USDM and it needs alot of modefacation in harnesses. So, What kind of piggy back do you use? And do you think I can use stand alone ECU with custom harness without losing AYC & ACD??

thanks for answer...

Hi

I have an ECU+ piggy back, its great for data logging as well as tuneing. You will be able to run the Apexi and not loose the AYC & ACD as they are both run by totaly seperate ECUs. if you get a workshop manual, you will be able to see where they are located.

If you get an Apexi ECU for the USDM Evo8 of 2003/4 it should fit straght on to a JDM Evo 7 harnes, the ECU+ was developed for the USDM Evo 8 and it fits my JDM evo 7 with no modifications to the harnes.
