Open Loop Fueling always on? Need some help
Folks,
So, I have doing some logging in preperation for gettin an E-Flash from dynoflash to use as a baseline for EcuFlash tuning. I closed the txs auxilary boot bleed valve, set the map switch back to map 0 and went for a run.
I noticed right away my afr's were leaner than expected ending up at 11.1 at 7,000 in third gear. I checked the logs and noticed the maf signal was still being modified by the utec.
So, I turned off open loop fueling (set it to zero) saved, turned off the car, restarted, verified that olf was off and went for another run. Same result, the UTEC is still modifying the maf signal and seems to be running off the back ground map. This time I ended up at about 10.5 afr but the maf signal still seems to be getting modified.

Mod list is ultimate racing turbo back w/highflow cat, k&n Panel filter (yes I am going back to a stock filter cause the k&n seems to be causing the maf signal to bounce around). Utec firmware is version 1.7.
I have not changed any injector scaling, ecu is still the stock rom etc etc.
Any ideas????

Well, first, I don't see anything wrong, Its saying ECU +0.0 and ECU which means its running off ECU for everything.. HOWEVER.. if seems like its not saving the settings, make sure the UTEC isn't in reflash mode and in run mode.. (Its in the documentation for the switch position)
Verify OLF is turned off, but did you rewrite your maps? Go into one of your fuel maps and set it to E for ECU and see if it goes back, if it does, its back in intercept mode and its disabled.. Setting the fuel map to 0 is different than setting it to E (ECU)

I agree that it says it is not modifying the fuel or timing, however take a look at the modified maf column.......
It did save the setting (open loop fueling to 0) but I have not cleared out my maps, they are still there but it does not seem to be using them. It does seem though that it is using the background map which I thought would be disabled with OLF off and the switch set to map 0.
I will take a look the the jumpers today, and may just reflash and delete all the maps, right now I just want to use the utec for logging so I can get to work on my ecuflash map.

I went and checked on my UTEC before I removed it.. +0.0 is the value if its unmodified regardless of whether OLF is enabled or disabled.. I do recall it saying ECU at some point so it was probably the original output before v1.7 of the firmware came out.. If your really uncomfortable, then just reflash it with 1.7 again and it will reset everything back to factory inthe process.

you do see 12:1 AFR's in passthrough mode if your running higher than stock boost, an aftermarket intake and exhaust.. This is why tuning is your friend.
I forgot to mention earlier that each sample is a MS or so behind, so what your seeing are MAF values that are sampled at slightly different moments..

Yeah that is part of the reason I thought something was wrong. 12's in the midrange with bcs restrictor pill removed at 20 psi and 10.5 in the 7000 range at only 16.5-17 psi. I thought it was too lean to be the real stock values as well.
My car has always been screwy with the base map though, I had to add a ton of fuel to the utec open loop fueling base map to get my afr's in the 11.5 range up top at around 19psi. I may have a screwy maf, notice how much the reading is bouncing around???
At the time of that log, the only intake I had was a k&n drop in filter. I pulled it out the same day and replaced it with a stock mitsu filter, maf is still screwy though.
