HKS EVTC Mivec Controller

Was browsing Ebay and came across this . Anybody know of heard of this MIVEC controller? Also found this one. I take it it's nothing that ECUFlash can't do via software I think?

The hks site? i did a google search and got all Japanese pages. Must be a very new product, but it's definitely worth mentioning. Hopefully someone out there knows more than I do.

I wouldnt bother - because ECUTEK flash controls mivec tables too. It would be better if you would do it via a flash rather than a piggy back unit like that

That what I thought it was too. Although both units appear to show some kind of digits on their face. Is that rpm? Might be good for monitoring purposes.

I take it this isn't the holy HKS grail that we say at the 2006 Tokyo Auto Salon.

I would be interested in this as well if its really a HKS part. This might be good to go with a set of evo IX cams

what would that thing actually 'do'...?

I wouldve thought the stock (or flashed) ECU would be in the best position to control valve timing, I would never trust it to a piggy back unit unless there was a really, really good & convincing reason Which there might be....does anyone know?

Reading my mind treo. From the looks of it, I'm still basing what I know off of what the unit does and it seems that current ecu flashing software/hardware allows for the same thing. This is just a more standalong approach aka piggyback as you put it. Much the same way as the Apexi SAFC controls fuel trim.

Good reason- Because you arent after peak performance and like to spend money on things you dont need?

No wait thats the exact opposite of a good reason to buy something like this.

Flash control is the best (most accurate) and also happens to be cheapest way to control MIVEC.
