The current unit out for subies is like that already

It holds 10 maps total. Those can be the Cobb maps, or custom tuned maps. They are all in the same format so it doesnt matter where they come from

In fact its better than ecutek (IMO) since you dont gotta flash the ECU to run a different fuel map (you can run a real time map off )
That's correct, but I'm not talking about the Pro Tune. I'm talking about the product you get right out of the box.

I will (hopefully) be getting my car Pro Tuned by Mach V pretty soon. I'm debating on doing it without any other mods but the AP just to see what type of gains could be had.

I think Mach V charges $500 for a Pro Tune and like 2 hours of dyno time are included. I'm pretty sure that once you pay $500 additional tuning is free of charge, if I understood Dan correctly when I spoke to him about a week ago. If that's the case, I can go ahead and go back after I get my full Turbo-Back Exhaust also.

I looked into UTEK and ECUTEK and really didn't want to go with them because they're actual "physical" setups in the car- not a "flash" like the AccessPORT. With the AccessPORT I can just unmarry the map if I need to bring my car in for warranty service. It would be a bit more difficult with the UTEK or ECUTEK.

It also will have a G-tech type function for calculating 0 to 60 and quarter mile times.
I'm not sure whether the AccessPORT currently has a GTech-type function for the STi/STI. It would be nice to have if there is such a thing....

Because you dont need a laptop(which i dont have) and you dont have to have knowledge of tuning the AFR's. You can change maps on the fly

Exactly, I don't think people realize that a laptop is not needed with the AccessPort. I had a 04' STi with the AccessPort and loved it. With the AccessPort, I could just plug up to my car and download maps - it was that easy, and the results were that instant. There was no tuning, no messing with vitial engine parameters, and no risk. There are no other products like the AccessPort and I am delighted that Cobb is getting involved with the EVO. I like the AccessPort because you can either run the Cobb maps or get the software and have a shop custom tune your car, or if you want - you can tune your car using the Street Tuner software.
The AccessPort is a simple small black box that fits in the glove box. The AccessPort also has a neat anti-theft feature that thiefs can't bypass because it actually flashes the ECU and is not and externall unit. All in all, the AccessPort is an awesome product and well worth the money spent.

I've had the accessport too and I know you dont need a laptop. All it is is a map tranporter. I dont think its all the good because you cant changer parameters (with out the software, which coast another couple hundered more then the AP itself, which is 600). I dont wanna pay 600+ a couple hundered more to tune my car when I can pay 80 bucks for a tactrix cable and tune my car. Also a Eflash from a Jestr only cost 50$ too, so 130$ for a tuned EVO. SOunds alot better then a AP for 600 + the price of software.

Also, they have been talkin bout the AP for the EVO for a long time and nothing has developed cept for the Xflasher from Vishnu (which I think cobb made for them) but even that never materalized.
