Cobb Tuning Accessport 2.0 Offical Information!!
No MBC, the AP will actually control boost, and also has the ability to raise boost as well, using the stock BCS threw WG duty cycles.

Without actually having seen the product yet, the main two benefits I know over Ecuflash are:
1) Realtime tuning - well, whenever the streetuner is released (and depending on whether or not current pro-tuners are setup for the evo or if they'll have to wait for new software). This is so much more convenient for setting timing/fueling in lower load sites on a dyno.
2) Basemap - you don't reflash the ecu everytime you mod it. You flash a basemap then use realtime tuning to adjust parameters. This stops you from continually rewriting the rom (which might not be a problem, but who knows).
I'm happy it's out but wish it were out sooner. What's the status on the Street tuner?

Cobb is still working on the Street Tuner for the V2 access ports. But it should be out sooner then later.
As far as tuning, any authorized cobb pro-tuner would be able to tune the AP.

Man Cobb is so late to bring this out its not even funny. I owned an STI prior to owning my evo and used the Version 1 Cobb AP for EM. It works great for those that know nothing about tuning and don't mind down loading maps off of the Cobb website onto the AP and uploading them onto the ecu. As long as a person only wants to mod up to stage two and doesn't have any tuners in there area then I think its a great tool. After stage two modding though it can become a real PITA. You have to find a Protuner (that you trust) and then arrange to either travel out to them or have them travel to you so you can get tuned. Most tuners won't travel unless you get a group together so at that point everytime you need to get tuned you are constantly arranging for group tunes and hope to get enough people to make it happen. True, Cobb does make Street tuner, but from what I remember the street tuner program doesn't have all of the same parameters available as the Protuning software. What items were left out I don't remember, but I know that they did make a difference. The biggest reason the Cobb AP is such a hit with Subi owners is because there wasn't any free tuning software available for the subis until recently. One of the biggest reasons I got rid of my STI and traded it in for an Evo was because of problems trying to get retuned when I needed to. Plus if you do get protuned and have issues with your tune and the tuner live half way across the country, it becomes a real hassle trying to get things resolved via emails. It so nice to know that I can go into ecuflash and make changes if I have to without waiting for an email reply from my tuner that lives on the other side of the USA.

The only hiccup with the AP is that YES you do have to have a Protuner around you to tune. But as stated earlier, not many people are capable of tuning there OWN vehicles. Some people can do it and keep a motor together, some people try to do it and end up needing new engine components. However for 80% of the people, a Intake and a TBE is more then sufficient.
A stage 2 is a very save and gives great results. A Off the shelf map that will come in the AP might only be 10% less then getting a car custom tuned. But the thing to remember is that you will be able to go from sea level up to the mountains and then fill up on 91 or 93 octane gas, and the car will run. No need to get retuned every time you go to high altitude or to a place that has 91 octane if the car got tuned for 93. As far as reliability, I have seen many STi's that already have over 100K on a stage 2 setup and run great. And a WRX that went over 150K.
It will only be a matter of time also until maps are available from Cobb off there web site that will allow you to do bigger turbos, injectors and possibly even cams. This is something that is already available for the WRX.
Thanks

My buddy has a stage 2.5 Saabaru that he has AP tuned. He has both a 93 and a 110 octane map on his AP that he can switch at the touch of a button on the fly. This is attractive to me- is this going to be possible with the EVO AP, Kirill?
im so glad the ap is finally coming out, coming from a wrx i had an ap stage 2 and i loved it, the numbers should be similar to that of a stage 2 sti if not more so its perfect. Best money you will ever spend, i can now mod in peace.
Changing between maps effects the ECU the same way as if you where to disconnect the battery. There will be a slight learning curve, however the Map that you would be switching to would be a custom map, so there should be no issues with the vehicle.
Thanks

Is there a way to activate two step using the AP or is this only capable through a protune? I know nothing of STI's but was browsing their software downloads and they have something like this to download. I have a stock IX and planning on getting the AP next month.
