Stock Ecu Swapping????

Hey guys,
My Ecu went bad (no clue how). And I just bought a used one that worked out of the car I got it from, and now it doesn't work in my car or any of the other Evo's up at the shop. Someone said that I need to get it reprogrammed for my ignition Immobilizer??? Is this true? Has any one else had this problem? if it is true where do I get this done?
Thanks a lot guys

Yes,the ecu and imobilizer ecu have to be "married" to get your car to start.
Have to be done at Mitsu or if you know someone with a MUT scan tool then the unlock code is 7315.

so u saying that he does not need new immobilizer correct?

because i read on forum that "< I never understood that an immob could only be programmed ONCE until today. It is then paired with the ECU it was programmed with/from for LIFE. If that ECU is scrapped then the immob is trash too! >"

could somebody help please

Any dealer can reprogram it with MUT2, I have swaped out 2 ecus and kept the original set of keys /immobilizer. My guy charged me only $25 per ecu.

thanks allot man that's what i wanted to hear.
Do u know what exactly he was doing? I mean he just changed IMMOBILIZER code in ECU
or he changed both: immobilizer code which is stored in ecu and ECU code which is stored in IMMOBILIZER.

Thanks man!

All the guy did was he looked up the password to the new ecu in their books, connected to it, hit the initialize button, then he had to reprogram all my keys as that info is now lost. Thats all. I believe all ecus are compatable with all of these immobilizers. I did a 2000 eclipse auto ecu to a 2001 galant auto immobilizer wedding.

BTW I don't think dealers get to see the same info as we do through ecuflash, they just get that mut and all its features. Talk to the tech because he should be able to do this for you in the parking lot under the table. I just drove to the dealership with my original ecu and swaped it out in the parking lot.

from all the confusion on club3g(hope you know that site) it seems that in your case everything should be fine since you have an 03 immobilizer with a evo8 ecu. I'm actually doing exactly the same pretty soon. Ti nash?

now i know for sure if u just change immobilizer code stored in ecu it would not start without going to dealer. BUT THERE IS WAY TO DELETE IMMOBILIZER from ROM without going to dealer.
