datalogging ?????

i had my car reflashed by jestr, n ive been expiriencing some knock while in open throttle. he wants me to use mitsulogger 1.5v and log the data and send it to him. i just dont understand how to use mitsulogger, i already have it downloaded and i have the tactrix cable, i have all the tools, i just am not sure how to log... he wants me to log in 3rd gear at open throttle. i just need directions on what i need to do to log using mitsulogger? like what are the steps i need to take from starting mitsulogger- sending him my logs???

are you sure your getting knock?...you cant tell if you cant see...jestr usually tunes very conservative for base flashes because a)he doesnt know your actual afrs b)he doesnt know how much knock you getting c)he rather have you running rich than lean and the possiblitly of blowing your motor ...

--to use mitsulogger 1.5v first you have to plug your tactrix cable in...then open the app...when you come to the screen just hit start loggin when your ready for the 3rd gear pull(start at about 3k full throttle)hit button before you gun it and your off!!!...when your done...just click the stop logging button...

--make sure mitsulogger is reading before taking off in 3rd gear
--you can close the log whenever but its best when you are done in 3rd and actually stop before hitting the stop logging button!!!

after that just attach the excel log sheet to your email and he'll get back to you with a new revised map or he'll think your crazy...because chances are your not getting any knock...what i think you may be getting is a high rpm misfire that you are mistaking for knock...let us know the outcome... ...i might be wrong on that one....

Connect your tactrix cable to your laptop and open mitsulogger.

Find an area that you can go 80mph safely in 3rd gear without traffic. Sometimes an on ramp will work just fine depending on the traffic on the highway. Better yet a highway with little traffic. Make sure you car is operating temp, this means the oil temp gauge is where it normally is when drving and the coolant temp is up to temp.

Click start logging ( pressing buttons in a moving car can be dangerous).

I normally short shift 1st and 2nd to get into 3rd gear at around 2500rpm, now floor the car and do not let up until 7000rpms unless you have to avoid something for safety reasons. It's ok if you hit the rev limiter but it's better if you can avoid it. What you want in the log is your TPS (throttle postion sensor) to be 100% for the entire pull from 2500-2700rpm to redline. You can stop logging in between runs.

allow the car to cool down for a mile or 2 and do two more 3rd gear pulls. If you have a good area with no traffic you may want to get a 4th gear pull or two as well. Same thing, except 4th gear. Also, you may want to shift from 3rd to 4th on one of your 3rd gear pulls and continue in 4th gear WOT for a bit - you dont have to go to redline in 4th as that is pretty fast (over 110mph).

Use winzip to zip up the logs and email to Jestr.

I would actually say, do NOT let the car cool down. If you're doing a 30 minute track session, you aren't going to let the car 'cool down' anytime in those 30 minutes Tune for worst-case scenrio, which is beating the crap out of the car. That's my philosophy at least.

Is there a way to average all three pulls or do you just keep them seperate and analyze each?

Question ..

do you need to hook up the wideband to the computer like evoscan?

or using the tactrix cable and mitsulogger alone will be able to read the WB?

thanks

Yes, you need to hook up the WB to the computer to get WB readings in your logs. Basically you have to get your WB output to USB so you might need a serial to usb converter. Also if you have the AEM and possibly others you might have to make a cable or connect a couple of wires to a serial port to get it to serial.
