Tuned @ YIMIS

Wsup everyone? Noob here. Just got flash/tuned @ YIMI SPORT in Santa Clarita. My Performance MODS: JUN B.L. catback, INJEN intake w/ upper ic pipe, WORKS 70mm downpipeand a WALBRO 255 fuel pump. Topped out @ 285whp / 272 tq. Doesnt this seem a lil low??? I was told my stock cat is holding me back by 20 hp. I was told by them that I wouldnt need an MBC but when we got on the dyno, boost was tappering down to like 15psi from stock 19psi. Should I bother looking to get re-tuned by a more reputeable shop, or am I in the right power frame? I would appreciate any advice
thanks

MBC would make a big difference so you won't have boost taper...

Matters what kind of dyno.

If it was a low reading Mustang, then those number are ok

If it was a higher reading Dynojet, then those number are really bad.

Also, a MBC would help greatly (or some other form of boost control ie modifed pills & stock boost solenoid, upgraded boost solenoid, or EBC)

the # seems about right on a dynojet considering its on pissy 91 CA gas.

Yes, they are correct. you would need a MBC to hold the boost better.

Did Paul tune your car?

thanks for the response guys! I'm not sure, but I think it was a dynojet. Anthony tuned my car while Paul rode his bike. I didnt exactly have the best experience there, plus the low #'s made me call another local shop, I think I will leave them out for now, but I was told that he doesnt really know too much about tuning EVOS. I am not sure if he even flashed my ecu or just adjusted my a/f ratio! I was told he only does "conservative tunes"...is there such a thing???I was also told that they wouldnt have even tuned my car w/ out a MBC. I knew this, but for some reason I decided to trust Paul and save myself some money. They also told me I should be around 310+whp and 310+ tq w/ a MBC. I thought that I would be around those #'s to begin w/. Should I even bother going to another shop and paying to get tuned again w/ a MBC. I was told they will give me a 20 % discount on my tune due to my bad luck. This is my daily driver and dont really go to the track... Is it even worth it???

yimi uses dynojets iirc.

if u're in Socal look for Scot Gray (PM "blak94gsx") on www.socalevo.net, u won't be disappointed, he's a hell of a tuner.

your stock cat and lack of boost controller is preventing you from hitting the normal power that IX's with TBE, MBC, intake/drop-in filter is making on 91 oct. on dynojets, which is 305-330whp/300-325wtq.

get a high flow cat or test pipe, and get a dejon tools manual boost controller brand new for $50.

go on www.socalevo.net and do some research, it'll help you tons. good luck.

Once again I wanna thank you guys for the input. Unfortuneately I didn't know he was a "scoobie tuner" until my car was on the lift, and they couldnt get my fuel pump done right the first 3 times ! My dyno sheet looks O.K. to me, but how do I know if my ratios and timing are on point, or any knocks??? It seems like my a/f ratio is between 11 and 12. They did NOT explain **** to me throughout the whole experience, which seemed a lil shady, but then again its hard to talk to the owner of the shop while hes riding his bike! I could go on, but I wont! I have an appt. w. TT on the 14th. I am in deliberation on whether it is even worth it to spend another $400+ on their tune??? Any thoughts?

Full megan TBE (UR test pipe)
forge mbc
works drop in filter

however the tune was a street tune from a member named c-spec (banned from socalevo)

Which leads me to believe that I got bent over!!! With the mods that I have, I should have been closer to 310+/ 310+ w/ a MBC... At least this is what I have been reading... Is there such a thing as a "conservative tune"? The first run was a base run w/ my mods: @ 270 whp and 265 tq and after they got done w/ it, I ended up w/ 285whp and 272 tq. Somethin just doesnt look, sound, or feel right! Was the guy that street tuned your car, was his name Anthony? Cause thats who did mine!

You need to ditch the stock cat. It's holding you back by a lot.

dude, seriously go to www.socalevo.net and find all your answers there.

there are great tuners throughout Socal, and norcal as well if you want to travel.

if your exhaust is too loud search for "rre stealth exhaust" - it's basically a full 3 inch catback exhaust with a 12'' and a 24'' resonator on the midpipe, and an 18'' magnaflow muffler - it will sound just like stock, i know because i'm running this catback on my car.

you can get the RRE rally cat (a test pipe wrapped in cat shield sound dampening material as well as high flow cat looking shields to make the pipe look more like a cat).

if u get the RRE catback and rally cat and whatever downpipe ur full turbo back will only be a bit louder than stock. on the highway if u're doing 4000rpm u can still have a conversation with your passengers.

go to www.socalevo.net

go to www.socalevo.net

go to....

please.
