Injector resistor pack - removal or not

All,

Just curious as to how often all the pro tuners on the forum remove the Evo stock injector resistor pack (even when replacing injectors with higgher CC using low impedance) when fitting an aftermarket ECU like Autronic, Motec or AMS etc. ECU can drive any kind of injectors if set corectly.

If done what would be the best way to bypas the resistor pack, yet being able to restore to normal later on? cut and solder all 5 wires in the plug together, build a connecting plug to do the same etc?

thanks
A

I'am bumping this, I have a project converting my mirage to evo AWD. I can't start the engine, only crank it. ECU, coils and etc are getting power except the injectors.

wondering if I could bypass the resistor, which I couldn't find it in the harness(someone show me some pix).... having this bypass could affect my fuel system?...

how did you bypass the immobilizer to ecu interface?

Only bypass the resistor pack if your ecu can handle the load!!! Most PNP cannot handle the current.

Dear all,
Depend on the ecu.
Most stock ecu are using voltage driver output, that mean you can not remove the resistor pack due to low ohm injectors ( 2~3 ohms each ), unless you know your injectors is high ohm ( 12~ 14 ohms each )

The resistor pack is for limit the current for the low ohm injector so that the ecu's driver would'nt burn out.

For after market ecu, some are using current driver ( auto current design ), that mean you can remove the resistor pack.

Bye.
