Ecu tune & Fuel Pump. Help a Nub out Please !

Im getting a tune this weekend at GST motorsports and so far i have a downpipe, catback, and greddy intercooler with nisei lower intercooler pipe. Everythign else is stock on my evo IX.

I was told that upgrading to a 255 Walbro fuel pump would help me Attain higher boost levels on my tune. I was actually told to get a Walbro fuel pump and some sort of boost controller. But i can only afford the Fuel pump for now and cant afford to stuff the boost controller in too because of my budget.

Can someone please enlighten me. Should i throw in the fuel pump before the tune? How much would it help on the tune? (if any) Also would it even make a difference with stock injectors?

You'll definitely want the fuel pump in there before a tune. The walbro will 'over run' the stock fuel pressure regulator meaning that the fuel pressure will be higher with the walbro than compared to the stock pump. therefore, the fuel maps need to be retuned to compensate.

For boost, just tune the stock boost control system.

Yea, first though, I would def. get injectors and fuel pump as a set, the boost controller you can leave out if you don't have money, but the fuel pump is important along with the injectors, because for the tune, they will play around with fuel maps and timing maps and you need to be sure that your injectors and fuel pump can pump what GST is gonna demand from your car via tune. If I would've been you, I'd use the Greddy Intercooler money for injectors, pump, and mcb....lol, those are a lot more important and the stock core can handle a good amount of power.

What? If you plan on running more than 19 psi for example like 26 on race gas or like 22 on pump, your motor is gonna inject more fuel to compensate for the more boost and you want like 660's for stock turbo with fuel pump, which is what I use and I run about 27 psi on race gas and it's perfect. Basically, you want to be safe if your gonna be using more than 19 psi so you don't max out your injectors and have a duty cycle of 100%, because that's NOT GOOD for the motor
