Question Boost Problem

I have an 06' IX evo to start. My question is ever since I installed my boost gauge. "Autometer" not the best, but better than nothing. My point is my car spikes @ 15lbs of boost @ WOT. From what I am told is that my car should be spiking @ 19lbs and tappering to 16lbs. Is that correct and if so did I just get a **** tuned car from the factory? Because I have never heard of a gauge being off that much.. I have a Forge rec. BOV and a 3" catback exhaust. If anyone have helpful imput it would be appreciated.

wnenever you're having a boost issue, it's always reccomended to perform a boost leak test. it's easy to do and should be part of your routine maintenance with a turbocharged car since they're bound to happen. the parts to make one can be had at lowes for <$20. even from the factory a good bit of cars come with leaks, mine had 2 the first time i tested it.

I don't think it is leaking it just seems to be under boosted from the factory..

I have an '06 IX built in June and it also hit 15psi max stock. I also did a leak test and found none. I have since moved to an MBC.

that does seem awfully low

I wouldn't assume you don't have boost leaks though, it's quite common.
