is it natural that u get richer AFR in higher gears?

Hi guys, this is on a 5 spd evo 7

3rd gear I'm getting 11.4-11.5
4th gear: 10:9-11:1
5th gear: 10:8-10:9

I have to wonder if your car is seeing more load in the upper gears which puts the ecu into a secting of the a/f map that's richer.

Disable Lean Spool and you wont have that issue.

But I just tune for 11.3:1 in 4th.

how can one disable lean spool? just richen up during spool?

I too was thinking the same thing...Could you log what loads you hit in the respective gears and then look at fuel map to determine the cause?...I can understand a slight difference, but that is a pretty big swing...Also, I wonder what your 1st and 2nd gear AFR's look like...

Just based on the fuel map, .6 AFR would seem to be a big swing as cij911 says, could it be the change in ignition timing also has an effect? You can get 3 deg between cells, I know the ECU interpolates, but could it have an effect?

at this point I think we're going to have to see some logs and maps to determine what's going on. Is that something you can supply erggy?

thanks guys... here are my posts... before and after tuning logs...

I think what u guys are saying is true... I do see higher loads in higher gears..

any comments on the log?

Car is: JDM EVO7
Mods:
1. K&N drop in filter
2. 3" turbo collector + cat removal + 3" TBE


before tune: swapped in walbro

check out the fuel map and see if it's set to be richer at the higher loads and you may have your answer.
