I'd suggest Mellon or TTP. They are both stand up tuners and are quite active on the forums here. If you go with a good tuner, you'll get a solid tune either way. The main difference with reflashes is the customer service.

I came from VWs as well, and this is a while different ballgame. It's a better game actually. With my VW, I just handed over $500 to my GIAC dealer and had an EPROM and decoder soldered in. I knew the boost increased, but thats it. With the Evo, there is so much info available, you know exactly what is happening with your tune and can change nearly anything very quickly.

You are going to love it.

Thanks for the endorsement TouringBubble...

To the OP, the most popular tuners in the USA are represented here:

Feedback ratings are a good indication of how your experience will be with a vendor.

PM us if we can help you out.

Thanks

I have used both TTP and Jestr.

Both are fine. I'd give each tune a 4.5/5 and customer service a 4/5 for ttp and 3.5/5 for jestr. Jestr is VERY slow at responding at times but he has good reason. His tunes are really awesome and worth the wait.

Tip: To reach ttp use AOLIM. That seems to be best.

I've also seen a few older dynoflash mail in tunes. Frankly they weren't good. Maybe he is better now. Who knows.

I'm thinknig of getting a mellon tune for $50(what I paid for the other guys) and do a comparison.

The flash is permanent unless you change it yourself. Where did you see that the flash only lasts 3 months?

Don't be a fanboi. To compare to TTP or Jestr the new kid on the block Mellon would have to do some out of this world work. After I dropped my cams in both TTP and jestr's first stabs were almost right on with AF/R's, knock and timing. Damned impressive.

Flash subscriptions last a defined amount of time. Ussually you pay for a base flash and then you can get a subscription so you can modify the car and get adjustments as you go. This also should includes starting "back from scratch" when you get some cams or a turbo kit.
