maybe not required....but highly recommended as stated....your A/F ration might be off from the intake (gas mileage worsen??) But with getting your car tuned after installing those mods will yield you sooo much more HP...

you will want a tune if you want your car to get more than 150 miles to a tank with that intake

your AFR's will be all over the place at WOT without a tune, but I think you'll still be in the safe area since the cars run so rich stock. You'll be a lot happier after a tune, but it's not necessary.

I agree and those mods aren't going to do much for you without a good tune to make the most out of them.

^Exactly! You don't have to tune, as you will run rich with those mods. I had similar mods to start and ran without a tune. I was OK, until the weather got really cold, at which time I began to hit fuel cut. I not only noticed HUGE performance gains after the tune, but the car also ran better. It is well worth the money. Get a tune, especially with that AEM intake.

Okay this answer some what one of the questions I had. So if the op doesn't mind me jump in here and asking this. I know once you get to turbo upgrades and stuff like, you will neded to a tune, but beside that. When is a tune actually required? Is there a site, link, etc where I can read the recommended steps to mod/tune an EVO some where? Thanks

Mod, tune, mod, tune, mod, tune... there's the steps rsalicrup... tune after you do anything to the car. Like they said, not required, but do it anyway otherwise you won't have a properly running car.

I would seriously analyze your modding goals before you tune. Once you get past the turbo-back exhaust, most any other mod would benefit from a tune. It would get expensive to continuously retune your car, so figure out what your mod goals are, wait until you can afford to get most of what you want installed, then get your car tuned. Warrtalon offers a Buschur setup that guarantees HP gains. Take a look at his offerings. They are an excellent starting point and allow you to achieve what most people would desire for a daily driver. Other than that, there is no specific information that I have found pertaining to exactly when a tune is "required."

In all honesty, a tune isn't ever "required." But, nearly any power mod you do will change the way the car runs. The factory maps are forgiving and you will likely not run in to any bad problems. The most annoying issue you might see is a rich condition at idle after an intake install or a dirty bumper after exhaust is changed. The car will run safely with out a tune ... it just won't make nearly as much power.

Cool info. Now, I have expirince with the Power FC since I had it on my FD. Would this be the best choice for an EVO though? Would that change the car to speed density? Also what is up with cams? I keep seeing hem on pretty much ever power package I see? I don't want to make a HP monster, just something fast for daily driven, goal would be 11s.

Thanks again
