I'm sorry if I sound like a NOOB, but if there any info on this Protuner? This is going to be for the AP correct?

Thank you!

The AP is loaded with generic maps for evos running certain equipment.

The Pro-Tune software allows for a tuner to do a custom tune via the AccessPORT for your car.

So the Pro-Tune Software is like ECUflash but you first must have an AccessPORT

Hope that helps

As an update to this thread...........It seems there were glitches in the software that COBB first released for the Protune software.

I have been trying to get an answer on when things will be squared away and fixed and new software shipped out so all of us that want a Custom Tune can get it......so far no luck on any timetables from COBB that I can get.

Has anyone had word from COBB on any DEFINITIVE timetables on when the software will be out that you can shed light on for all us others in the WAITING DARK???

Thanks

Yeah, I called a couple of times and they are still trying (frantically) to get the software done, but I don't know what the problem is.

The guys at Cobb are great, and I'm sure that they are finished with it just double and tripple checking to make sure 100% that there are no problems whatsoever.

Me a waiting too.

I'm sure once it is out it will be great......and I agree I'd rather wait a little more time than have it rushed and not perfected

CPA5, help me understand please. Why would you want to perform a custom tune if you simply have the TBE installed or are you installing/have installed other after market parts? If no other after market parts, why would someone go out and get custom tuned? How could it be any better that the "pff the shelf" maps provided by Cobb?

smoother power band for one. an off the shelf map is generic. protunes are specific for your car. no two cars act alike. a protune caters to that fact and thus is a better tune for your car.

i know for a fact from when i had my sti that cobbs ots map runs rich. really rich. im sure the evo ots maps are no different. so by getting protuned and having proper afrs you can get more power than the ots maps and maybe some better mpgs.

hope that helps

That makes absolute sense. Thank you. Here we go again; "Inquring minds want to know". Why did you get rid of the STI? BTW, my bro purchased a 2007 STI a month after I purchased my 2006 EVO MR just so that we could have both brands and see the goods/bads about each. They are fairly even cars I have to say with some slight differences. Not enginewise though as the the STI's flat engine sure is different!

i got rid of my sti because i wasn't that impressed. the 4g63 is alot more responsive to bolt ons than the EJ motors. also i found it to be a funner car to drive around in. not to mention the gearing is better for drag. i had an 05 sti so i didn't have the nice gearing that the 07's have.

I do have a few components on my car that should add a little more power that I am not taking advantage of now by just using the ots map from cobb. Plus as the other guy stated above the custom tune by itself should yield a little more anyhow......but with the additional things I have on my car I think I can get another 15 or so HP/Tq out of it safely....

we'll see

Will the software only be available to tuners and how much would it run?
