Here's what I read, but this is for a dsm (from vfaq)...I can't imagine theres a huge different its essentially the same motor

Idle after warm-up: 1000*F
Normal constant speed (~3000 RPM): 1350*F
Danger: 1700+*F

LOL, I live in California. But I was just referring to Celcius because I know some gauges read that way. And to me, for larger temperatures, I like to use C. The metric temp system is in units of 100*, it just makes it a little more understanding for me I guess. Like, 900*c is close to the border, 1000*c is the limit(usually). Its like its scaled from 1-10... I prefer Celcius.. but whatevs. hahaha

The Evo VIII comes stock w/ forged aluminum pistons, forged connecting rods, and a steel crankshaft.

And I think its Mitsubishi, who made him think that..

Not 100% on the pistons, but the rods are cast NOT forged. Back to my pasta...

If i am wrong so be it but to my understanding the stock motor has forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, pistons are lightweight AC8A (T6) cast aluminum

i would suggest moving the probe to a runner, if anything bad was to happen by the time you saw it on your gauge the damage would be done

It was suggested to install it in that location as if the probe ever broke it would not damage the turbo. It was also suggested that at that location the temp is the same as in the #1 cylinder as all runners collect at that point. Can anyone confirm?
Does any one know the safe max temp F for that location?

all the runners dont collet there, its already goin thru the turbo if its in your downpipe, which means the exhaust temp your reading has been effected by the water and oil cooling of your turbo plus any effect that the intake air temp had made on top of the fact that all the metal absorbs the heat....that is since it left the cylinder head
