Methanol

Does anyone here have any experience with the 4G63 and running it on full meth? I'm looking to see what kind of target AFR or lamda to shot for and also what others have found as far as if the meth like more or less timing then C-16 etc... I'm not looking for specific timing numbers but something to get me a feel of how this fuel performs.

LOL.. look on the methanol/alcohol subforum. There are like a few hundred topics covering that specific issue.

I think he wants to run it completely on Meth, which isn't the normal talk in the methanol injection forum. But Just to put it out there.

If we consider gasoline to be our standard, then just looking around

Stoichiometric ratios (1 lambda):

Gas 14.7AFR
Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) 9.0AFR
Methyl alcohol (methanol) 6.4AFR

Well your going to need lots of injector. 8 -1600cc or get some of Magnus 2200cc injectors. Would probably be a good idea to get a Mechanical Fuel Pump to support it all. Of course all lines and fuel rail will have to be hard anodized.

As far as tuning is concerned you can run allot more timing with straight meth. More boost, more fuel, more timing = LOTS OF POWER!

Yea, pure methanol would be good for a motor with like 11 to 1 compression and boost.

Its not common man. Its more corrosive I think, and the volume required is like double that of gasoline for the same distance.

Just to clarify I know the basics the car is setup as far as line, pump, injectors. I want only to know about the tuning and a lot of fuel and a lot of timing isn't much help to me. If anyone is running full meth could you PM or email me I have a few questions in regard to target lamda under full boost and also timing. Thanks

I think 100% meth is not the way to go. And I dont agree with using to much either because I think it causes engine deteriation.
I just installed a meth kit on my car but am no way going to use a whole lot of it. maybe 5% of my total fuel. just enough to get inlet temps down. I am going to use 50/50.
The guys trying to get 40psi 150 or more HP using meth as 40% of their fuel in my opionion are not very smart. Just because you cars has no problems dont mean the meth is doing harm.

Target lambda should be the same for methanol as every other fuel ... around 0.83 for a boosted application.

Since it's not common to run full meth on an Evo, timing is kind of up in the air. That will likely be a trial and error process man ... sorry. I'd suggest starting with a somewhat normal 116 or E85 timing map and working up from there.

That's funny I have been running a twin nozzle high flow meth setup for to years and my motor looks great?

new fuel pump setup, injectors, upgraded fuel lines, new fuel tank...a great tune. Deep pockets.

Its not realistic as your whole fuel system would need to be re-engineered and you would need to change your oil every few hundred miles from contamination.
