FMIC and Tuning question.

Thinking about purchasing a 3.5" ETS FMIC.... will i require a retune just by adding this?? will the car be alright with it's tune on the stock FMIC? let me know guys.

Thanks!

yes, u do not need to tune with a bigger IC....only thing that might happen is you will lose some boost due to the lager IC and colder air. so u can put it on and you will feel some power gains, just not as much as if you were to get a tune and pull some timing.

I would get a re-tune if you can. After I added my 3.5" ETS Intercooler, my tuner was able to add a couple of degrees of timing and a little more boost over my previous 91 octane tune. My boost level didn't change after I added my new intercooler and my part throttle response felt the same as my stock intercooler.

This is correct. An upgraded intercooler is a power enabler. Ideally it will allow for a cooler denser charge to enter the cylinder. In order to get the maximum benefit of a upgraded intercooler, you will want to retune. As the above guy said, his tuner was able to add a bit of timing and boost.

That is exactly why you want a intercooler upgrade. Through charge cooling it raises the knock limit slightly by giving a cooler charge. Then you go in and push up the timing and boost a bit, and take advantage of this increased limit.

You will be fine on the stock tune, but we recommend a tune if you want to pull all the power possible out of your evolution. Like others have said, you will be able to run more timing. The intercooler will also eliminate any knock that you were having on the stock unit in a 3rd gear pull.

If you have any questions regarding the intercooler, let me know!

Thanks Buddy!
