Testing a crank sensor?

First of all Hi as im new to these forums.

Im used working at rally cars, not road going evos and used throwing faulty bits in the pile and replacing with working ones. mechanical bits are no problem, but i struggle with electric's! Id love to learn more but dont know where to start!

The problem is with an evo4, it wasnt starting at all.

We replaced the crank sensor and it ran fine for about 3 hours. but now its stoped again when warm only to start again when it cooled.

So how do i view the error codes and what one is the crank sensor?

How would i go about checking the crank sensor to see if its working ok when cold?

Cheers
Trevor
