Getting a tune... questions..
Hi kinda noob towards tuning the car and I'm not planning to DIY. I'm going to take it to my local tuner in a couple weeks I'm just wondering if theres anything I need to know to tune my car right? I want to tune it so my car goes back to 250miles a tank rather than only 200 miles now after I went to AMS turboback and a ARC intake. BTW does it cost $650+ to get a tune? Fact that I live in Canada not much people own evos up here and I read up on the website that a ECU reflash costs $650 + tax on a evo 9 not sure about the 8 which I have.
Thanks.
Thanks.

you could work remotely with Mellon Tuning on this forum. He has tuned cars worldwide as far as i know and doesn't cost nearly $650. He has a great track record with tons of positive reviews.
I've been to 4 different tuners and 5 different dynos for my Evo. Not once did a tuner ever come close to charging $650. It's usually in the $250-$400 range. And almost all tuners give you a return discount on retunes. Search some more in your area or like suggested above Mellon Tuning. Good luck.

^Mike, I believe the cable loan program is 4WS however Mellon may have that also. To the op: $650 sounds like way too much for a tune especially from a local shop who may not have much experience with evos. If I were in your situation I would try to remote tune with someone such a Mellon or 4wheelslide etc.

+1 on English Racing.
Was that $650 for an Ecutek flash? Just curious, I remember paying waaaay too much for a Shiv Ecutek flash back in the day. I'm much happier with my regular ER Ecuflash now.

Even if that price is CAD, that's still over 600 bucks USD. English racing is only 300 and thats a dyno tune (in person), until they get it right.
I wonder how much you would have to pay in customs fee's to have your ecu shipped to/from Canada to a tuner here in the states? A mail-in-flash could be the way to go if you are having to pay 600+ for a tune.
