E85 ? if anybody can help me out..
Not sure about that but I have read where people have made as much and sometimes more power on e85 than c16 race gas which I believe is 110. Which I would assume as you have it's because of the cooling properties inherent in the ethanol. Someone else might have a more technical response than I have to offer but I am under the same understanding as you.
The research octane of E85 is around 118 due to the ethanol content, and the motor octane is 105.
An interesting thing pointed out by an article I read is, that E85 as we know is very great in dealing with knock, yet is very susceptible to preignition, which is why the motor octane rating is as "low" as it is.

96? you are kidding right?
This is a very common question and I have done a few writeups around here. The actual octane rating and effective octane rating is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than it seems is normally attributed.
Pump E85 if mixed with 87 (it is around here) can be rated 2 ways, MON or R+M/2. I have the links all sorted from the tech section on our website, but the name of the thread is "what is the octane rating of winter E70" in the alternative fuel section. E85 is actually closer to 112 or so.

I guess that everyone under the sun is incorrect then, eh?

Benefits:
"It has a motor octane rating of 104-108, it is also quite cold to the touch. It drops air intake temps dramatically, which is GREAT with boost"

"What is the octane rating of E85 compared to gasoline?
E85 has an octane rating ranging from 100-105, making it a high performance fuel. In comparison, regular unleaded gasoline has an octane rating of 87."

Regular at 15% (87 octane)
Final Summer Blend: 109.1 octane"

Dont really know and dont really care.. What i do know is i have still NOT found a limit to the pump E85 fuel.. 225/hp cyl and still going without an issue.. so if its 80 octane or 120 I dont care.. I know 1 thing.. I havent found any gas thats better..
