Speed Density vs SD

i was going to get the new AEM EMS, but for less then half the price i could do speed density, should i spend the extra cash for SD or go speed density?

which is more reliable then the other?

does speed density allow you to switch maps on a fly like SD?

could someone please give me the pro's & con's between them

i did some searching on them but still dont know much about them

next summer im going to buschur for a fully built long block either a 2.3 or 2.4 with bushwacker 5sp trans so im getting all the small things together now

SD= Speed Density.

You're asking...do you go AEM versus Tephra mod w/ Speed Density.

IMO I would save the 1350 dollars that the aem costs and use Tephra Mod.

SD is a abbreviation of the Words speed density. They both work exactly the same

Don't forget to donate to Tephra and the EcuFlash crew that makes this all possible!

If tuning SD from Tephra mod is "hard" then the AEM isn't going to be any easier for him.

Stand-alones like AEM, Haltech run off the principles of speed density so your asking if it's better to go with the same thing. If you want to spend the money on an AEM/Haltech then go for it. If you want to put the cash somewhere else and utilize SD via the stock ECU then go that route and use the Tephra V7 mods w/SD. I'd do the stock ECU as it's cheaper, just make sure you have a tuner who knows what they are doing.

FWIW, I think that a good standalone is better then the stock ECU for a heavily modified car. The stock ECU has a lot of features that just aren't needed, nor wanted on a race car and it lacks programmable inputs and outputs.

The stock ECU gets the job done for most and it gets it done for far less money.

I personally run aem and have no issues with it.

I would suggest getting some input from the person who will be tuning your setup and going from there.

Good luck.

R/T - Are there REAL hp gains to be had removing the MAF and converting to SD for a sub 600whp car ? I remember reading a post from Bryan @ GST where he questioned the gains....
