I extracted the file 96940013.xml to C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo and the error remains the same.

User level is set to developer.

ecuflash can not be running when you extract the file to the directory it only scans that directory once on startup of the program.

If you're still having trouble perhaps what you got is the program not running with admin rights so its created a virtual store on the new OS's like windows 7 and that virtual directory doesn't have the xml you need.

I restarted the program and ran it as admin but that didn't do anything. I also tried XP compatibility mdoe and that also didn't work.

have you tried all the stuff that was discussed in the thread?

I feel like the Ecu might be locked and i need a retune to unlock it.

Did you get the rom from your vehicle or did you just extract the xml file and load that?

Never mind...

No I have not tried anything yet, but I am still interested in all these things I have yet to understand. I just look forward to the original poster thanking someone for fixing his hopefully unique problem in hope that if and when I screw up someone will help pick up the pieces.

Did you download all the latest tephra xml files and save them in the rommetadata/evo location?

I know I'm a newbie, but I've done hours and hours and hours and hours of research on here to answer most of my questions. You should take a look at recompiles videos on how to operate ECUflash. They are in the important ecu thread links under the ECUflash forum. These videos were the best tool I had at fingering this stuff out (still not all the way there yet). Good luck to you though

Can you open up any other ROMs?

Your trying to read the ROM from your ECU correct?

Other ROMS do work.

I was able to open the one from my car with this XML file but it doesn't really have any of the info in it.

So you can READ from the ECU, get the ROM, but just can't OPEN it right?

You just need the proper XMLs for that specific ROM I'd. I can give you the stock XMLs, but I need to get to my laptop. Maybe someone can get you the link.
