Evo 8 Whining sound

Hi guys,
im pretty new to the forums and the whole car scene in terms of owning a sports car and trying to maintain it as best as possible. Was wondering if you guys can help me out.

Today driving to work i notice my 8mr making a whining sound as i hit boost around the 3k rpm range and slightly gets louder as i accelerate more but the tone and volume of the whining sound stays constant after 4k rpm until i change gears. as the rev drops back down under 3k rpm, the car sounds normal then it will do it again as i hit boost. i took it on the freeway and while the car is doing 100km/h and the rev is at about 3k rpm on 6th gear, sounds fine.
however later on the night i noticed the whine coming on at about 2.5k rpm at every gear and still makes the same sorta tone throughout the rev range to about 5k rpm (thats all i took it too)
ive done some reading and searching and ive come across a lot of t-case scenarios and also diffs and bearings etc. however my whine isnt as bad as the videos on youtube about the t-case problem.

had a few mates look at the car before and they are all saying different things, could be pully, belt or watever.

just wondering wat u guys think?

thnx and greatly appreciated for any input.

could be a boost leak i know persoanlly when my throttle body seals were bad i could here it leaking from inside the car lol. id do a boost leak tester, or have someone sit in the car and keep it steady at the rpm range you hear it and start checking things out

My mate said the same thing wen i took him for a drive yesterday, however i dont get the same sound wen the car isnt moving, i do hear a slight whine but to me it just sounds like the normal whine of the evo but i could b wrong since ive only had the car for a month. However im taking it to another mate tonight to see wat he says nd ill mention wat uve said so hes got somewhere to start.
Thnx for that

do a boost leak test. Or take starting fluid and spray it on your throttle body and IM and intercooler couplers. If there is a leak your idle will change
