Tuning software.

Everywhere I go, people say it can be done through phone and internet etc. I'm not clueless to tuning nor am I an expert, But, I was contemplating getting software to run and tune for myself. Where can I get trusted software for my needs. It would only be minor tuning for my DD. I'd like to do things such as timing adjustments, fueling upgrades or even downgrades etc, and even just for monitoring. Basics...Thanks
