What to start off with !!!!
Have a few question about tuning id like to be able to do it eventually on my own,but what are the components i would need like software, cable ect and whats the best out there for an Evo 9 if it makes any diffrence. Also prices and were to find the stuff would be helpful i know that messing around with things like this with no knowledge can mess things up badly but u have to start somewhere right ? Any help would be great ....:mitsu
its been addressed many times, but lets list it again shall we...
1) Flash cable; http://www.tactrix.com or http://www.evoscan.com. If you get the evoscan cable, you will need the 1.3U so you can use it with ecuflash, although EvoScan has flashing and tuning capabilities, it does not have EVERYTHING ECUFlash has to offer.
2) Software; same sites as above for ECUFlash (free), EvoScan ($25 US) respectively. ECUFlash does only that, flash, there is no logging in it. There is also ELM (free and donation based for full version - search here for 'new live map') & also mitsulogger (i have never used)
3) XMLs; ECUFlash comes with base XMLs to get you going. you will need to search to get all the bells and whistles added to the XMLs. Also ELM will require tephra v7 to work
4) Reading; There is Merlin's guide floating around. Also nj1266 has a great thread (search 'how to tune an evo') plus a million other threads floating around.
that should get you started
cheers

I have a Mac too. For tuning I'm going to buy a 10 inch window based notebook just for tuning. you can run windows on your Mac via bootleg but id rather just get another computer to keep windows away from my Mac.. just my opinion
