The UTEC has user definable knock correction. You can determine what the UTEC sees as a knock event and what it does when a knock event happens.

It will integrate with our wide band o2 box.

Nearly identical; the screen shots, setup, and install is very similar to the WRX UTEC.

There will be a differnet manual for the EVO on the website later this afternoon.

so if i buy your utec and wideband setup and hook em together, does the utec adjust my a/f ratio automatically based on what it sees? or do i still have to tune the a/f ratio?? Or do i just look at the meter and tune the utec???? Then what is the purpose of connecting them??? RRR

and one more question, sorry, but you seem to know what you are talking about, do i have to let the utec controll boost or can i keep the hks evc. Or can i set the utec to pull boost when knock detected??? how does that work?? thanks in advance. I know its more work, but when you drag my questions and answer them, its quite professional, it may have even sold you another utec. ime on the edge with cash in hand.... Ray

The utec and tuner package doesn't have the ablility to self tune at this point but that is the joy of our "Free Software Updates". It will be available in the future. So for now you have to tune the a/f by getting the wb logs in the the #1 Datalog option.

When the wideband is connected it will appear in the far right hand column, next to your relateable data. So when you go to make the change the afr ratio you know exactly what load site and rpm you need to make the adjustment. This takes the guess work out of tuning.

Regarding the boost control, you don't have to let the utec control it. You can use your EVC. It will not need to be in control of boost to function correctly. Our UTEC has it's own knock detection/correction system which has completely adjustable knock thresholds.

If you have a knock count it is capable of retarding the ignition timing at that load site up to 10 degrees and max of 30 degrees retard for 1 single knock count.

In the screen capture the utec is set:
For a (5) Knock Count it will retard timing (1) Degree up to (12) degrees of retard.

And after a 100 crank cylces it will set the timing back to what is set in the timing table at that given load site.

Using the stock boost to control the knock correction would be way too slow to blead off enough boost to be safe enough to rely on. And have consistent boost correction.

i think this sounds pretty good. Now i have an innovate LM-1 wideband. Ime hoping i can use it for now. Will it hook up till i can afford the other one you sell? it has 2 analog outputs, 0-5 volts with 10 bit resolution, and programable. I need to know if this will work. I dont think i wanna tune anything without using the datalogger.

While you can use your LM1 to help you tune your car, the UTEC will only offer intregrated logging with our TurboXS wideband.

We will be offering a Game Boy connection, that will interface with the UTEC and Tuner so you can tune, view and datalog on the the screen of the color Game Boy advance. With the great ergonomics of the Game Boy it is a great handheld tuning solution, plus it's cheap.

Dang. I want one. Throw in the wideband too.

Sweet setup. It looks like the S-AFC will be getting thrown out soon.

UTEC - User Tunable Engine Computer. With that said you dont have to be a "tuner" to be able to connect our Tuner and make a pass log it and shoot for a target afr ratio.

We do offer dyno tuning as well you can shoot me an email at Jermaine@turboxs.com and we can talk a bit about that.
