Completely unrelated text removed. User was asking about the Evo UTEC users, not WRX users.

yeah, the utec definately works, i had 306whp on my wrx with it, yes i know evo's own wrx's BUT reguardless turboxs knows how to make power. I definately buying the utec and txs catback as my first mod, untuned should be around 40whp with there base stage 1 map. (nino owns on those combo deals)

for those of you that are looking at a reflash over this, or are trying to convince me, it wont work. im going to show that the utec is exactly what it has been on the wrx....additional features include data logging, launch control, free software uprades, map selecting, nitrous control
and in the future it will have fuel table auto mapping

Please stay on topic guys. The user is asking about Evo owners using the UTEC. He is not asking about how the UTEC does with the WRX. He is not asking about the benefits/disadvantages of using the UTEC vs a standalone vs an ecu flash.

If you don't have anything on topic to say, please don't post.

attitude removed. Is it really that hard to follow my suggestion? ie...do not post unless you have something to add to the topic at hand.

Guys I apologize for not having more information available to you at the moment. We are working very hard to release a UTEC software update for the WRX in the morning as well as our new EVO-UTEC page.

I am still working out the details of our participation on these forums with the management, so I don’t want to get into too much in the way of advertising. Actually advertising isn’t really my style.

Currently your best bet for seeing a very high HP EVO UTEC car is going to come from AMS. We’ve had a very good relationship with them over the years and they have a EVO utec and Tuner combo they are going to be playing with this week on one of their higher HP cars. I am sure Martin will fill everyone in when the testing is done.

I also know that DynoFlash has our UTEC/Tuner combo and may be putting it into his car or a customer’s car soon.

You may ask why we haven’t released more information on the EVO-UTEC to date. There are 2 reasons. 1. I don’t want to get into the dyno plot wars that you see so often around here. By letting other tuners have a crack at the UTEC on their dynos we get to largely avoid the “dyno wars” and get a somewhat more independent review of the product. 2. We are still in the process of deciding to what level we are going to take our EVO8. I have very close ties a few very well known DSM shops, so I could have the needed parts here overnight, but I don’t want start down that road until I am sure of which parts exactly you’ll see from TurboXS.

I will give you a small tidbit.

When stock our EVO8 made 238hp on our dyno. We’ve been playing around with it quite a bit and recently put it back to stock. Some 7k miles later it was up 10hp over the old stock runs. It is then only fair that we raise our baseline to the new 247hp base-line.

The addition of our EVO8 cat-back, our intake, and our UTEC we are getting a very consistent 280whp using only 18 degrees of ignition advance up top. I feel this is rather conservative, but it’s the place I want to start with our base-maps.

We are literally around the corner from Altered Atmosphere. I know that a lot of Evos with various setups have been on that dyno. In the spirit of comparison, if we get a chance I want to take the EVO over there this week. I may also throw some C16 in just to show what can be done. If we work out our status with the management of this website, I’ll post the plots and information here for you to see.

to hook it up all you do is connect your computer to the provided cable via usb. it uses hyperterminal...a dos program which about every computer has. the software is very nice, it uses percent columns and all kinds of fun stuff. if you want screen shots etc u might as well check out the wrx utec instruction manual.
