Will e85 on stock turbo kill my car?

Hello,

Below is my modification list and email from the tuner. They highly advise not to tune e85 with the stock turbo. Please help!. My goal is 400hp and reliability! Car has 128K and with 125 compression on all 4 cylinders.

Thanks

--Transmission rebuilt at Shep Racing at some point. Supposedly transmission good for 450hp.
--Front differential upgrade which can "handle a **** ton". I honestly don'tknow anything about the differential upgrade other than it cost 1k.
--HKS cams 274in, 278ex.
--Full Buschur exhaust system.
--Buschur manual boost controller tuned @21 psi, Spring replaced at 127k as old one failed.
--Walbro255 fuel pump.
--Stock turbo rebuilt at some point with a slightly larger compressor wheel.
--NGKBR7ES spark plugs.
--New single puck clutch replaced in winter of 2011. Exedy HD organic.
--New head studs.
--Short shift kit.
--EvoI X blow off valve.
--New K&N intake filter

I talked it over with our Evo tech, he said thesame thing. You're pretty much capped at where you're at. If you were to goe85, you would need a Walbro 450 fuel pump ($190), larger 1200/1300cc injectors(FID's being the cheapest Bosch EV14 option $510 ), intercooler upgrade ($640),electronic boost controller , and tune (pump + e85 or just e85?). After allthis you still run a highly likely chance of shooting a rod through the block.$1340 + electronic boost controller and tune(s)

If you really want to move forward to make power, we'd like to see you just buya turbo like a journal bearing FP red for $1100. It's not super high boost soyou don't need a ball bearing. We're okay with the intercooler kit at $640 (youwill have more money in us fabbing the piping so just stick with the kitpiping), 1000cc injectors (FID's being the cheapest Bosch EV14 option at $325),keep the manual boost controller and just do a pump gas tune. The car would besafer, make similar torque like where you're at now but move the power band upso you can make more hp up top without shooting a rod through the block. $2065+ tune.

Labor isn't added to either of these prices, but basically everyone here doesn'tfeel comfortable sending you out much higher on an e85 stock turbo and bottomend car.

You need a new tuner, that is outrageous. If he doesn't know how to keep the torque in check he doesn't need to be tuning any Evo. Ever.

Walbro 255 - $95
PTE 1000+ or equivalent - $300
Grimmspeed or MBC - $100
Tune - $350+

These are the only things needed.

No, you need a walbro 450, 1300 or higher injectors plus a good tune (def a new Tuner)but you should have alot of the bolt ons to max out to get the benefits of E85, stock turbo, you're going to want to upgrade faster than you think.....in my opinion upgrading front mount & pipes should come before getting e85

btw go to Extremepsi, they have walboro 450 for $130 shipped with install kit, just bought it abut a week or so ago, I'm getting ready for e85 but I have cams & og fp green that I want to max out before I upgrade turbo, good luck

If you don't have 1000cc injectors, you do need them. With the walbro 255 and 1000cc injectors, you may not be able to max out whatever turbo you have, but it will make 400whp on E85.

Thanks guys

125 compression on all cylinders, no leaks, i change the oil every 3000K, but there is 128K on a original motor. I don't want to blow up my car. I want to put about 1500-2000 into it right now.

I will have to think this one out.

He does not need a 450, it doesn't flow additional without being rewired. A rewire is far from necessary. Plus the fuel pump housing will need to be modified for it to fit.

OK. Moving forward soon on the dual map e85 tune. Getting:

--VRSF 3.5 intercooler
--Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors
--Muse lower intercooler pipe

*keeping Walbro 255 fuel pump

Tuner does recommend getting an intake through. I just have a K&N filter on the MAF with stock piping. They said get the above and we are ready to go.

Why did he suggest not getting an intake? A intake provides smoother travel into the turbo. The stock rubber pipe is more ribbed than a Trojan

What kind of duty cycle do you hit on your 1k cc injectors?
