Need some help and guidance

Hi,

I have a Evo V and recently got Tactrix 2.0 and trying to tune and learn myself. I don't have access to any Dyno/Tuner here at the moment. So it's a bone stock setup, and currently i am just trying to get some good results at about 1.3bar to 1.5 bar with 97-98 fuel.

Well i started to log in Evoscan, did some second gears pull and a bit of third gear. Few things and questions i have at my mind:

1. My battery voltage looks too low. I did some research on this forum and came to conclusion i should be hitting 13+ when the car is running. My battery voltage in Evoscan shows around 10.8-11.4 during the log attached. I am sure this must be messing with lot of stuff including the load calculation formula

2. Is this also the reason of my injectors hitting 80% duty cycle in some cases with around maybe 14 psi of boost? Maybe my fuel pump is not receiving enough volts to keep up.

3. Do i need to upgrade my current fuel pump and a new FPR?

4. My target AFR's and actual AFRs are way off. i had to take it to 9.x range in 160-180 load after 5000 RPMs. Does that sound normal?

5. Why are my AFR's so inconsistent across the boost range? When i select "Average" values in MapTrace, the result looks better. Do you guys use the same? While looking at logs in Excel, i feel they are wayyy offf and not at all "smooth".

Attaching my log file. Let me know what you think! Thanks

Hey there. To start I would check my battery voltage with a multi-meter. Verify that first. It would not be a bad idea to upgrade the fuel pump on even a stock Evo in my opinion. Your fuel map values will not match exactly to your actual AFR values, but that is ok. As long as you can add or remove enough fuel in the map to achieve the target AFR values you require. However they should not be WAY off. Like couple points max or so in my opinion. Check voltage and determine whether you have a charging issue first as that will throw off fueling. Depending on whether or not you are tuning drive-ability or WOT you can use avg or max values, or choose to log only on throttle greater than 80%. Hope that helps some.

Also I did not have time to check your log as I am walking out the door for work!

Update:

I was after the Voltage drop. As you can see in the logs it drops to 10.5 V ! . This can happen at both idle and high revs. No consistent pattern.

I started with Voltage Drop tests :

1. First test between Alternator and Battery, both for positive and negative sides (no/minimal drops)

2. Negative drop test between Battery -ve and Ecu Pins (13,26,91,92) Evo 5 pinouts. Max reading 0.15V on one of the pins here. Rest was 0.05V

3. Positive drop test between battery +ve and Ecu Pins (12,25,80). Yes it does drops. 0.75-0.82 on idle. Reving to 1500-2000 takes to 1V drop! . I think this is my issue? After all i am chasing for a drop around 2-3V at the ECU.

After this i looked at the fuse box. I could see 2 Hot cables underneath, tested +ve drop there 0.04V.

What should be next step?.

I am kind of confused here. Not good with electricals.

Am i looking at a bad ground or a bad +ve wire?

Why there is a drop on all three +ve wires that go into the ecu?
